IMO ,Bajwa took money to overthrow the government. He knew Khan won’t allow him a free hand in corruption. They tried to paint a narrative but the more things opened up it becomes clear - it was greed.

While corruption may certainly have been there, I believe it was more about the fact that the Fauji leadership couldn’t control IK and had no material (corruption or otherwise) to blackmail or pressure him into doing their bidding.

The Fauj under Bajwa (with US blessings) basically carried out a pre-emptive strike to prevent IK doing to Pakistan what the AKP did to Turkey - improve governance and the state of the lower and middle class and cut the Army down to size and reform it and genuinely eliminate its influence.

IK sent finance minister Shaukat Tareen to explain the moron Bajwa that the economy has just started to stabilize, on the path to growth and any misadventure will lead to the economy going into a tailspin.

Tailspin of the economy is like one failure leading to another failure and a continuous fall difficult to stop, this is exactly the situation now.

But that wasn't heeded by Bajwa.


They do care about the economy as its related to the budgetary allowances to them and economic downturn means a slump in the real estate business, their main domain.

There are reports of severe financial crunch in the military Inc.

This is a valid explanation. But what if there was another twist? What if the point of the establishment is to ensure Pakistan never progresses to become economically strong and therefore, independent of the US?

Recall Imran Khan's first interview after Bajwa retirement with Orya? He mentioned that he wasn't upset that he was removed. He was upset because he was removed after they stabilized the economy and just when the country's future looked bright. What if the point of allowing PTI into power in 2018, was to stabilize the economy and not a minute more?

This nothing new. My issue is why does the establishment get involved only to bring feudal lords into power to destroy Pakistan repeatedly? Why continue this boom-bust cycle?

Why not just rule indefinitely with technocrats and solve the economic problem once and for all. It would financially benefit the military-owned businesses as well.

You will realize the purpose of the establishment is not to protect Pakistan or let it prosper. The purpose of the establishment is to sabotage its economic prospects and ensure it remains a vassal state.

Never becoming an independent and powerful country, but barely surviving with enough nukes to threaten India. Notice how the IMF didn't put any restrictions on military spending or strategic programs? Yet Sri Lanka was forced to scale back their military?
