Remembering the siege of Makkah : 40 Years on

Funny how one of the leading arab news papers, with such an extensive research that they even found videos and audios of the whole event, just didn't mention SSG's involvement.

That's a good thing, I hope my fellow Arab institutions all become like this. They should ban other languages and brainwash our population into worshipping Arabism. Our governments must all be overthrown and replaced, Juhayman al Otaibi had reasons to be angry.

Try looking up PA in Op Desert Storm, and Mogadishu 1993, you will be even more surprised.

@The Eagle I think you are best qualified to answer him.

The colonialism superiority ideology is what wreaking havoc in our societies that the supremacist been invading people & murdering them only to establish of their own clergy. I am really surprised by the approach as such that people couldn't help and not to impose themselves upon others rather, may try to live and get along with it.

Any proof bro ?
Faisal Aijaz: Was SSG really a part of the operation that led to the liberation of Mecca in 1979 ?

Col (R) Abid: Yes. I recently returned from United States at that time when the Siege of Mecca took place in 1979. Saudi authorities contacted us and It was then Brigadier Tariq Mehmood who led the whole operation along with his team and French Special Forces GIGN were given the task of protecting the out skirts of Mecca.

I'm sorry, an interview of a retired officer is no proof. Also, Brig. TM was just recently promoted to the rank of Colonel in 1979 and there's no way a Colonel level officer would have led this operation. It's a fantasy created by some Pakistanis in early 2000s in one of our defence forums.

No one is forcing it down your throat.

You can take out whatever you want from it but the fact remains that SSG or Brig TM was not involved in this. The reason a Colonel level officer wouldn't have led this operation is because the magnitude of the Op required a higher ranking officer, even at the tactical level.

Secondly, if my memory serves me right, Brig TM was heading Yaldram at that time and in all sense, Zarrar would have been tasked with such an Operation.

So, before passing comments, bring in a solid proof to support your claim than an interview taken by no one of some random colonel.
