Religious parties announce restoration of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal

A decision has been made to restore Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, a coalition of religio-political parties of Pakistan.

The decision was made at a meeting of top leaders from Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl and other parties.

Speaking to media along with leaders from other parties, Sirajul Haq said they have decided in principle to restore the MMA, of which a formal announcement would be made next month in Karachi.

He said a consensus on restoration of the MMA was achieved in the light of recommendations presented at the meeting and they would hold a meeting of at the residence of Shah Owais Noorani in Karachi in the mid of December.

"We understand that elections should be held on time, in accordance with the constitution," Haq said.

He added the parties which were not represented at Thursday's meeting would also be approached.

This announcement disappoints me about JI only.
I had thought they had learnt the lesson by being with Molana Fazal ur Rahman. Clearly they have not.

JI had performed much better than i had expected in coalition with PTI. But this seat will bring their downfall. I understand why JUIF wants to restore MMA coz they can see that they will lose badly if they dont have an alliance.

Plus they should stop calling themselves religious parties as they are really sectarian parties.

No offense indeed it’s only KPK where these so called Islamic political parties are surviving, innocent people still voting them on name of Islam, Punjab and Sind specially urban areas don’t give a damn to them.

food for thought, what is the basis of forming a religious political party in a state that is already an Islamic republic and is bound by its constitution to uphold Islamic principles at all costs??, by essence all parties that register for elections here in Pakistan aspire to swear alliegence to the constituion of Pakistan and hence by defination all are Islamic parties by virtue of Pakistani law so what are these so called religious parties playing at??, they would be more at home in a secular state like India where the state is secular n religious parties contest elections for changing that but here in Pakistan there are no grounds for forming a religious party as the state itself is not secular but Islamic, i hope people realize that before they fall into the trap of these sectarian anti state parties again......Ya Allah save my Islamic Republic from these bloody Mullahs and their sects...
