This mentality is reasonable because communists never understand religions. So they treat religions, like everything else, as material objects they manipulate to serve their own want.

I disagree. Obviously, religious groups have to obey the party. After all, the United States would not allow an Islamic fundamentalist/jihad group spring up in spite of the First Amendment. Why is China different? Just because religious groups have to obey CCP law does not mean that China is manipulating religion for state purposes. Yes, China is becoming stricter in monitoring religion but who can blame them? Remember the Falun Gong cult that brainwashed 80 million people or jihadists flourishing in Xinjiang?

Hard to say. China is more or less making science as the state religion. Of course, not the science that embraces rational skepticism, open mindedness and critical thinking, but the science that authorizes elites to issue edicts and dictates.

Apparently we are talking about different concepts. Such an argument simply passes each other. You have equated communist party to the law. Yes, religious groups have to obey the law. But what I meant by "law" is in the modern sense as nobody is above the law. But what you meant by "law" is in the ancient sense when the words of the emperor was the law. Nobody is above the law except he. In China, the law is applied in the ancient sense as CCP has stated that CCP is above the law. In another word, CCP is the new emperor. Therefore, since everyone needs to obey the law, everyone needs to obey the party, as you just mentioned. Both of us are correct and there is nothing to disagree about since we talk about different laws.

Second, though I look forward to a powerful argument from you, it would be fruitless if you make the argument before even understanding what I have said. I wasn't talking about whether it is the political elites that run a country. All countries are run by political elites. There is no question about that. What I was talking about is that CCP as the Chinese political elites uses their version of "science" to run the country, just like other countries' political elites use their version of religions to run their countries. And their version of "science" is very much like the version of religions used by other countries' political elites and it is more like a religion than a science.
