ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Tuesday thanked the Taliban for maintaining peace during Muharram on his appeal, Express News reported.

While speaking to media in Islamabad, Malik also said that the performance of police and security forces during the holy month was “commendable.”
The Interior Minister had called on Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and briefed him about the security measures taken by government during Muharram processions.

Security was beefed up across the country in order to maintain peace as processions advanced in all cities for the ninth and 10th of Muharram.

A large number of mourners participated in the processions.
The interior ministry issued orders to restrain public and private transport near all the Imambargahs within a 500-metre range.

A control room, headed by the Interior Minister himself, in the National Crisis Management Cell was designated to monitor the situation.
Police were directed to conduct thorough checking and screening of all vehicles, motorcycles and rickshaws.

What’s next? Thanking Talibans for carrying out ONLY one blast each month? :cheesy:

If ur security minister openly thinks a known and banned terrorist organization it speaks a lot.

Its best to maintain peace with everyone in Pakistan. Fighting doesn't solve anything. Look at the superpower, still stuck in Afghanistan and can not defeat Taliban.

Peace is the only solution for our problems. You can't get peace by killing.

Who is saying to kill:

1. If they have genuine problems they should be solved

2. And those are terrorists and don't want tp lay down the weapons and tries to take law in their hands should be procsecuted in the court of law.

3. See no killing involve in above.

4. But thanking terrorist organizations is too bad and gives a very bad signal that state don't have any authority and openly admit it.

Ya u r right..Hpe so they will maintain that in future too

It gives a simple message to the world-

If you want negotiations with talibans in our back- you will fail- you can only succeed through us- we have the power of "informal" VETO-

Sir you 'Thank' somebody when they do you a favour.

Not exploding bombs is something Talibans are supposed to do and is not a favour.

Rehman Malik should be commending the role of the LEAs in Pakistan more that arrested hundreds of sectarian militants before & during Muharram (as well as many terrorists getting killed), which is why things went well over the country.

I think you mean that exploding bombs is what the Taliban actually does. So by not exploding the bombs they have done a favour to the pakistanis.

I wish Chidu also "thanks" the LeT or Indian Mujahiddin for not carrying any bomb blasts and then we can boot him out
