Regional security: Islamabad, Kabul to ‘reactivate’ border coordination centres – The Express Tribune
What do you guys think about this news report?
The re-opening of the Border Coordination centers would enable better cooperation and coordination among troops on both sides of the border and could enhance surveillance on militant movement across the border. As of yesterday, we have formally ended our combat mission, thus ending the longest war in American history and consequently Operation Enduring Freedom. However, as President Obama has stated, "Afghanistan remains a dangerous place, and the Afghan people and their security forces continue to make tremendous sacrifices in defense of their country. At the invitation of the Afghan government, and to preserve the gains we have made together, the United States -- along with our allies and partners -- will maintain a limited military presence in Afghanistan." Operation Freedom's Sentinel will begin with the New Year and with it we hope to see better cooperation among the AF-PAK as they battle to clear the militancy which has been plaguing their homes.
