Reforms in China One Child Policy

Congratulation to everyone in China !!!
The policy must be bringing happiness to every family in China.

In Vietnam, during some decades, the gov recommend 2 child policy but only strictly to gov. personnel.
I myself have 2 sons and 1 daughter.

It actually doesn't do much, it's been tested that one child is the choice for a little over 50 percent of new Chinese families anyways, while having one child is not enforced but are given incentives, is still an attractive option for many more.

With the cost of raising a child, the time required, and the amount of time as well as percentage of women in the work force, one child is very attractive.

So in reality, the one child policy is just another policy to a majority of Chinese and while I know it has made some uncomfortable, it is not a particularly unpopular policy that the West makes it out to be.

But then again, the West can make Obama care to look like Satincare, so maybe it's not personal.

What pathetic headline from Indian news paper. Can any one tell me against China what economic edge India have?

India may lose economic edge as China ends one-child policy

India may lose economic edge as China ends one-child policy - The Times of India

With about the same population size, China's GDP is already 4.5 times larger than India. If Chinese ends 1-child policy, workforce is going to increase, GDP gap is going to widen further.
To India, keeping the GDP gap at 4.5 times is considered an economic edge.

About time. Chinese couple should have two kids, we cannot lose our demographic edge.

Agreed.

I think the reforms are a good compromise, that will keep us at a healthy replacement rate for a long time to come.

We already have the largest number of workers in the entire world, by FAR... around 780 million.

Imagine 780 million Chinese people, each one having the same access to resources and education as one does in my city Hong Kong or other advanced cities with Chinese populations, like Shanghai, Beijing and even Singapore. That would be incredible, I would love to see the awesome potential of a developed China.
