Hi Fellows, i am hunting for a crossover / mid size SUV at the moment and would like your input from experiences and knowledge.
I am mostly leaning towards Jap brands atm and have short listed the following.

1) Nissan x-trail
2) Subaru Forester
3) RAV4

Any feedback is welcome.

Leaning towards new or post 2010 only, if pre-owned.

.
Nissan Xtrail is trash.

Buy Subaru if you want performance.

Buy Rav4 if you want cheaper spares and good resale value.

Nissan Dualis is not bad either, better than xtrail i'd say.

Jeep Cherokee are not bad either.

What are the -ves in x-trail in your opinion?

Yes very keen on the Subi, the only sticking point is it's 4 speed auto tranny. Might test drive the manual version.

I don't do much off-roading, just short beach trips and some gravel roads in the outback.

These vehicles arent really meant for off-roading either.. but even than il suggest you to buy a subaru.. instead of rav4 **** or x trail !

New Diesel Rav4 is pretty good. Whats your budget?

Or you could go for Mazda CX-5 diesel.

Or if you have slightly higher budget then you could go for BMW X3 (2010-11 model)
