The armed forces are prepared for a long haul at the Eastern Ladakh region where the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has transgressed into Indian territory, a top military brass headed by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat has told a Parliamentary Panel.

The top brass of armed forces also informed that adequate deployments have been made to handle the issue. In a meeting with a parliamentary panel, the top Army brass informed that efforts are also being made to bridge the trust deficit with the Chinese, who have amassed heavy troops with armoured regiments and long-range weaponry since May this year.
According to sources, the military team led by the CDS further informed the panel that armed forces were ready for any eventuality on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Ladakh sector and have been deploying and preparing for a harsh winter there.

India and China have been engaged in conflict since April-May timeframe this year where the Chinese — in the garb of an exercise in the Xinjiang province on its side of the Line of Actual Control — rushed troops to transgress into Indian territories in the Ladakh region.

Chinese troops have been sitting in Indian areas and several other friction points along the LAC and have refused to disengage since mid-July. They have been raising unacceptable points before the Indian military.

India and China have also held five rounds of Corps Commander level talks but they have not been able to find any solution to change the actual ground position in many areas.

But not an inch taken according to Modiji. Didn't they 'push' us back and we retreated?

During the 2001-2002 10-month long standoff between Pakistan and India, Darpoke India lost nearly 800 soldiers and that standoff wasn't even in some harsh climate.
