Raytheon bags $23 million deal to modernise Indian Air Force

US defence major Raytheon today bagged a $23 million contract to modernise India's military air traffic management systems which will make IAF air bases capable of handling all types of modern transport and combat jets round-the-clock.

The contract has been awarded to Raytheon by Tata Power Strategic Electronic Systems to provide automated air traffic management systems to the Indian Air Force.

The Tata Power Strategic Electronic Systems is the main contractor of the project. The contract is part of the IAF's Modernisation of Airfield Infrastructure (MAFI) project.

MAFI is being undertaken to make all IAF air bases capable of handling all types of modern transport and fighter aircraft at all times.

Raytheon officials said under the first phase of the programme, 30 airbases across the country will be upgraded to make them capable of handling all types of modern transport and combat jets at all times.

Raytheon Network Centric Systems (NCS) will supply a variant of its globally deployed AutoTrac family of air traffic management systems under the project to make the air traffic systems of of the best in the world, Raytheon officials said.

"Raytheon's AutoTrac system will provide the IAF a modern automated systems backbone that will allow for easy and rapid incorporation of new tools and functionality as they become available," said Andy Zogg, vice-president, Raytheon NCS Command and Control Systems.

^^^ oh look kinetic - US will be able to make Indian aircrafts crash at will now ! :D

.
I thought they have already upgraded many airfields, wasn't this on news? Automated air traffic management should be part of the modernisation process, I think they are yet to do it.

I was expecting this from you. But I am not expecting idiot like you to understand the difference between NATGRID and air traffic management. Nope its impossible.

Oh look we now have put in colored fonts and bold for you too. Its a grid too ... not on the scale of NATGRID but a grid that will link to multiple bases , handle multiple traffic allocations of sensitive type . Look the CIA/ MOSSAD/ Mi6 is throwing a party - they can control India's military traffic- will know when and which aircraft are taking off and flight plans too possibly! your too easy... I'll leave you be.

than we should not buy any American systems at all? Because all are grid? Do you know what is called air traffic management and what is NATGRID where data related to every Indian will be saved. NATGRID is a distributed database! If you use your head than will understand the differences!

Oh look we now have put in colored fonts and bold for you too.

Now you are learning! Don't you. This was your first lesson and do not ever complain about bold posts. Here goes the second lesson, try to put something rational before you want to challenge someone. Otherwise you will get kicked like now. By comparing NATGRID with IAF's air traffic management system is a stupidity. Like comparing a cycle with water! lol Try something better.

^the two of you, stop the childish bickering.
On topic: I don't feel as concerned about the airfields because TATA Defense is still the main contractor and will conduct the implementation, maintenance and control.
Would I have preferred a fully domestic solution?, Yes.
Am I going to loose sleep over the current agreement?, No.

Thanks for the order! But did you notice that it starts from the first reply of the thread? If no than think twice before the order.

Who will provide you domestic solution like the one from Raytheon? They have years of experiences in this field and its not sensitive as you think.

.
^we're on the same page Kinetic, I realize the Raytheon solution will be far more effective than an Initial domestic one

duh! database will be built by the Indian IT company, the partner they hope to collaborate with,as mentioned in the other thread/article. Reading an article throughly may help? ... keep digging.

You are talking like you head the project, who knows who is doing what and telling us to believe that BS!

keep digging.

Digging is a good habit as much it unearth many prematures.

But you are sure as the super spy to claim that they will risk everything to have a rogue spy software installed. :enjoy:

Blair said if Raytheon is involved in the project, it will tie up with an Indian IT company for developing various cyber support solutions.

See that thing walking out the door " its logic" from your argument.

Btw- this deal here would also have databases , yes this is a traffic management system . It will have databases too.

Lets see whose logic you are talking about.

Blair said if Raytheon is involved in the project, it will tie up with an Indian IT company for developing various cyber support solutions.
You think that this tie up mean two guys, one from Raytheon and another from some Indian IT firm will sit together in front of a computer and write some codes!

Btw- this deal here would also have databses , yes this is a traffic management system . It will have databases too.
Yes, that air traffic management 'database' will contain data about all Indians like their railway and air travel, income tax, bank account details, credit card transactions, visa and immigration records and others in 21 categories. As I said do not try to understand what you do not. NATGRID and airtraffic control management of IAF is very much different in terms of everything.

again the wild dreamed up assumptions from straightforward statements. how can anyone sane come with such conclusions. I clearly said the database part would be Indian IT support solution part. do you understand how IT deals are structured or what exactly raytheon has done in the US?

in your excitement to not read what is said but just bang away on the keyboard, you have again assumed that I have compared the two at par with each other. what I have showed you is that security concerns are high in both cases. This system , if Raytheon as per your grandeur conspiracy, was susceptible to give US access to the system ( btw- shows you lack of understanding IT deals), then in this case US would know of every air force related movement across all of India's bases. :help:

you are right now 6 feet deep in hogwash theories ... you have another 50 feet to go. so far I've backed my statement with logic, article itself and all you have done is " the US will insert itself itself and get India's goodies" . No proof , no internationals law knowledge , NO Us law knowledge, No anything to back up that beautiful mind.

.
same company also pocketed a deal for upgrading Saudi Arabia defense system i.e. missiles
