Courtesy Rahat Minhas: this is conversation between Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas and air control at PAF Base Masroor around 11:30 am on August 20, 1971. Rashid's aircraft, whose call sign was 166, got hijacked and he crashed it in order to prevent its crossing into India (it was carrying only him and the hijacker). He was posthumously awarded the highest military award, Nishan-i-Haider, and this recording was broadcast in a radio documentary about him soon afterwards.

May Allah bestow Highest and Never Ending Blessings upon his soul, his family and the mother who gave birth to son like him. May Allah bestow this nation the tremendous courage and love for the country that this little boy had. May God produce millions of more Rashid Minhaas among us! Amin!

May god give him the highest place in heaven. It's just sad that he lost life at such a young age.

May Allah bless his Soul and Make our Youth n Nation that Brave n Strong.Ameen

Having joined the air force, he was commissioned on 13 March, 1971 in the 51st GD(P) Course; on August 20 of that year, he was getting ready to take off in a T-33 trainer in Karachi when an East Pakistani Instructor pilot, Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman, gained his way into the back of the plane. He has been reported to have been watching Minhas closely for many weeks for his being new, young and inexperienced. In mid-air, Rahman knocked Minhas out with the intention of defecting to India along with the plane.

In mid-flight Minhas regained consciousness. After a tussle between the two pilots, the plane crashed. The cause of the plane crash is not known. Sources from Pakistan, including Pakistani Air Force's website claims that Minhas crashed the plane himself to keep it from reaching India , while the account from Bangladesh Air Force's website does not support this claim . The crash site of the T-33 was later found 40 km from the Indian border.

Minhas was posthumously awarded Pakistan's top military honour, the Nishan-E-Haider, and became the youngest man and the only member of the Pakistan Air Force to win the award. He also became a national hero. The Pakistan Air Force base at Kamra has been renamed in his honour.

Rashid was to inexperienced no 1 second Sohail butt in the ATC should have been hanged if I was the boss, When the kid is saying that he is hijacking the plane and fighting me on the controls, In T-33 all controls are infront the ATC should have said Master switch off and that would have been the end, It cuts off fuel plane would have stopped right there and them. Plus there were 20 other things he could have done to save him self and kill Mati.

Wonder how can there be a tussle in such a cramped cockpit. Also the seats are arranged front to back.
How can anyone really know what really happened inside the cockpit since both the pilots didn't survive..
