Corps Commander briefed over ‘90’ raid, arms recovery




KARACHI: Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Naveed Mukhtar on Thursday visited headquarters of Rangers in Karachi where he was briefed by the security forces about Wednesday’s Rangers operation MQM office ‘Nine Zero’ and surrounding areas.

“The operation was conducted on intelligence of presence of hardcore target killers, absconders, criminals and anti-social elements in the area, who were hiding in a virtually no-go area,” according to Rangers statement.

The statement said Pakistan Rangers Sindh acted as per the ruling of Supreme Court and mandate given by the government of Pakistan and managed to arrest target-killers sentenced death penalty by the courts.

“A large quantity of prohibited weapons was also recovered from Khurshid Memorial Hall and surrounding offices and houses,” it said.

DG Rangers Maj Gen Bilal Akbar apprised the Corps Commander that 26 target-killers arrested in the raid will be produced in different courts today while 27 criminals are already nominated in FIRs will be processed for 90 days preventive detention.

“DG Rangers also highlighted that Rangers will ensure that no one would dare to influence the Investigation Officers and judicial officers,” the statement said.

Corps commander saw the weapons seized during recent crackdown that will be handed over to police after legal requirements.

“DG Rangers also mentioned the role of citizens and thanked the citizens of Sindh particularly the citizens of Karachi who are cooperating with the LEAs to make the current wave of operation a success,” Rangers said in the statement.

“Corps Commander praised the dedication and hard work of Rangers personnel who work day and night to bring stability and normalcy to the city. He also hoped that the pace of current across the board operations which are conducted without any bias will continue till the elimination of last criminal,” the press release said.

Corps Commander Karachi visits Rangers HQ, inspects weapons recovered during yesterday's raids

I am sure there are more weapons in Nine Zero, therefore Rangers & Intel agencies will have to pace up their work before these weapons disappear. Also it is very important to find out how NATO weapons & other weapons were illegally smuggled in Karachi & those who are involved should be arrested, I am sure there are big Ministers involved in weapons smuggling activity.

Those Policemen were part of MQM they were not like ordinary policemen most of them would have been recruited by MQM itself ......... so they must have been protecting criminal elements in the area that is my assumption

Around 100 weapons are recovered that is not small and those in the bags were not shown there were several bags which contained stolen NATO weapons that were not shown
