I was reading newspapers yetserday and they mentioned that the Rangers were being given full prosecution and interrogation powers...I'll just repeat this in bold so people know the significance of this move.
Rangers are being given full prosecution and interrogation powers.
The DG Rangers was saying that whenever they hand over a criminal to Police, he gets released on basis of no evidence, because the IO does not want to get his family hurt, so he botches up the prosecution and criminal goes free. Another case is that the criminal gets a bail, and he flees.
Now the Rangers are going to do the Police job from A-Z...capture, prosecution, conviction...they are not going to hand over a criminal to the Police.
This is a very important thing to note and will change things...to what extent, that remains to be seen.
