Salaam Aleykum, to all Muslims brothers/sister PDFers

I'm a couple days late, but Ramzan Mubarak to all.

The holy month always teaches us not just to look externally in order to remember the poor. It also teaches us about self-control. Being extra wary to do things to please Allah SWT who is our Curator and Final Judge. It's an educational month, one of reflection.

As humans we tend to take things for granted. Ramzan helps put things back into perspective.

May God bless all Muslims; and May God bring peace and prosperity to Pakistani Nation.

will be 17 hours fasting for us :(

almost the same here in DC.....would you believe that it is almost as hot --but definitely AS humid as Lahore?

i do a small sehri and Fajr prayer @ 4:45 morning; iftar begins at 20:15 roughly.....toughest part is the nicotine cravings; i actually hope to use this month to try re-quitting, that would be good.

my Top list a eftari :
dates(arabian must be )
halim
gilapi
beguni
sarbat with roh afsa

:)
Well most of the items on the table are decided by the home ministry....:smitten: and it always meet my expectations.

Also i'm mostly worried about hydration. And i keep it light ,as the stomach remains empty for such a long time.No need to stuff in food items in a rush and better keep something for a light dinner afterwards.

"Roze daro, Allah ke pyaro, Jannat ke haqdaro, utho sehri ker lo. Sehri ka time khatam hone mein 25 minute baqi hain"

One of the glorious calls in the world, once in my childhood, in a sehri time, i took a stick and a tin box and.. drub drub drub, made a round of the street to awaken the people. Good days. This tradition continues.

How is that in other parts of the world like in India, Bangladesh or UAE etc.?

We do the same things as you do in Ramadan. Before sehri, from 3.00 am, the Hujurs from the mosques keep announcing on mike to wake up people and do sehri in every area in BD. They say the same things in Bangla ("Roze daro, Allah ke pyaro, Jannat ke haqdaro, utho sehri ker lo. Sehri ka time khatam hone mein 25 minute baqi hain"). Also the night guards whistle at night, make sound to wake up people.

People do sehri, keep fast, make various dish and items for iftari, many people offer tarabhi Namaz, recite Quran, a few old people go for itekaf in mosque for last 10 days and do Quran Khatam etc. Before Eid everyone do shopping, around 60% people leave Dhaka and go to their villages in Eid vacation. Girls wear Mehedi on their hands and do facials, lol.

There are special offers in buying many things, TV programs for 7 days. People go to each other's home on Eid and travel to distance places. Also some do lots of fun, party and drink in Eid.

We also observe Lailat-ul-Qadr, Sobe bo raat and other religious days seriously, but may be not as seriously as like 10 years ago. Nowadays, may be, people observe these religious days lightly as everything is changing. People's interests are diverted to many other things now!
