OK, If the new Governor performs better than RRR, then RRR was at fault and if he/she fares below then everybody will gun for BJP!! In a way the bottom line is that whoever comes to power will put in their people at key positions. Opposition will always oppose. When UPA/TF will come back to power then they will also put in their people. No big deal!!

The Former Chairperson of NIFT was a retired IAS officer Kiran Dhingra. She wasn't a Fashion designer either
This Chairperson post is purely an administrative one with no interference in curriculum or any teaching aspect.
Hope this rests some of the apprehensions about this appointment.

I considered him good at the start of his term under UPA ... but after BJP came into power I felt that he is not moving at the same pace with which the government is... his many conservative decisions has beginning to holdback the economy...

He was a good governor when we had UPA who were extravagant in distributing free bees with slumping economic growth and increasing fiscal deficit ... But the times have changed in 2 years...We need some 1 who could be march with the government economic policies...

Finally taking a wrong decision on economical front is the last thing mistake MODI government wants to make...

It is an administrative position not an academic one and I was well aware of that. I was not asking for a fashion expert, in fact administrative positions are always better served by competent administrators, like an IAS officer with a lifetime of experience. Please don't defend the indefensible, it reflects poorly on you.

in a country of one billion plus people we surely have talent as good or better than rajan.. thats not the point.
once you appoint somebody to that position, you respect the institution.. if you dont want to extend his tenure, at least do it quietly... the whole campaign to vilify the guy has hurt the institution of RBI.. Mr Rajan will be alright and will have nice career after this, no doubt.
