Sheehs.. does Admiral Verma have to specially come and tell you again what he said to the press conference? The IN plans more MiG-29Ks on top of what 45 we ordered for a more stream-lined fleet and easier management and maintenance.

He never said anything about Orders over 45 Mig-29K, only extra orders referring to second batch of 29. We have to be clear- Mig-29Ks are only for IAC-1 and Vikramditya as they are STOBAR carriers. Of you do the math you see there is just enough for one carrier fighter SQD per ACC and one training SQD based in Goa. The N-MMRCA is and has only ever been for any future IN ACC which will be >65,000 tons and likely CATOBAR configured (EMALS is very likely) so in this sense Rafele, F-18SH, F-35C and Sea Gripen are all possible contenders, regardless of Mig-29K/N-LCA.

More MiGs, copters for Navy

The Navy is set to acquire 16 MiG-29K fighters, including four trainer aircraft, in two years, and 16 helicopters in four years, Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma said here on Saturday.

The 16 MiG-29Ks were part of a first contract — with Russia — and 29 more fighter planes would be acquired through a second contract, he said at a press conference held onboard the INS Shakti, after he commissioned the fleet tanker at the Naval Dockyard here...

when iac2 will be launched??and whats the capacity??

and i have heard that gorshkov can carry 24 planes but few says it will carry 16 only.

how you have too much knowledge??whats your profession??

24 might be the figure including Helicopters and the no . 16 is for Mig29k.
If Gorkshov has 24 Mig29k, it would face lot of difficulties .

Russians used Aircraft carrier as Battle cruiser. If you see the earlier snaps of Vikadi you can see Missiles pod on deck..

It was design to carry lesser Aircrafts and more Missiles and rockets. It is not design to carry more Aircrafts so it will accommodate lesser MiG29s/NLCA. Where as IAC1 is designed for Fighter planes, it will carry more MiG29 than Vikadi (Note that both are having same displacement).
