Rafale arrive in eygpt NEXT STOP South Asia

$6 billion for 24 Rafales means each costs $250 million for Egypt !
$8 billion for 36 Rafales means each costs $223 million for India !

Both have lots of poor people in their countries but they spend $223-250 million on one fighter plane from France ! This is a economic victory for France with highly paid employees who work only 35 hours a week and get four weeks of paid vacation.

This will cause Egypt to decrease domestic spending. There were riots in Egypt when government raised prices of bread. I guess Egyptians can eat cake if they can't afford bread !

you forgot to compare the GDP of these two countries smarty pants...........n you also forgot to compare the economic growth of these two countries....the purchasing capacity of india is huge and is more than the GDP of various countries........forget india...even the revenue earned by indian companies like TCs, mahindra, reliance ... flipkart is more than the GDP of various countries....

...thank you

"To pay for the agreement, France and Egypt are negotiating a loan guarantee with France's export credit agency, Coface, which would back half of the deal outside of a 15% downpayment, an arrangement agreed to this week by the French finance ministry."

Didn't say otherwise. Just pointing out the deal was more than just Rafales.

5.2 Billion euros for 24 Rafales, armament (MICA, SCALP, AASM etc), one FREMM, and its armament.

That's also including training, maintenance, and support contracts for all the weapons systems.
it looks so cheap especially with KSA money. By the way for what purpose Egypt wants these jets to suppress Sudanis or own people (Islamic Minded just like Mursi) or poor Palestinians. The so called president Sisi has brotherly relations with Israel.

$232 million per Rafale ! If you boast of being so rich why not pay $464 million per plane I am sure France can add more gizmos to Rafale and charge you that much ! Why don't India spend that money on uplifting its poor people from the abject poverty in India !

To be fair to Egypt they have much higher per. Capita income than both Pakistan and India.

Does make them a more prosperous nation than south Asians

They have higher per capita income but bread is still subsidized by the Egyptian government. Canada plans to buy 60 F-35 for $100 million each. Canada would cancel deal if the prices increase to even $150 million while Egypt pays $250 million.

In Egypt's case Its a regional and strategic issue.

When it comes to India... there is too much more behind the scene... Indian would even pay $500 million for a Rafale... all what they need is nuclear tech. and loads of visa.

And the Israeli's cans till turkey shoot you guys down!!! Why spend billions on stuff that you won't be able to use against your main or the ONLY enemy? Why not spend these billions on public welfare and help the people and the country through education, infrastructure, healthcare and all? You can always buy more weapons when your people have better lifestyle, resulting in higher tax base through more educated labor......??? All this takes is just maintain peace with Israel like it has been so no war, everyone's happy and you can throw these billions to further help Egypt grow....

@ArsalanKhan21
it does not.......bhutan's per capita is 2k n egypt's is 1.6k were as india's...wit a huge n a diverse population of 1.2 billion... is 1.26k ....egyptian annual gdp growth rate 3%....highest going 7%...india's.....7.5%...highest going 11%...economically india is far btr coz the distribution of wealth is btr even though we have a huge population...plus our GDP is 2 trillion

by tat logic ...bhutan can buy f35s witout any problem.....switzerland's pci is 87k but china's is jus 7k ....still china is a global economy....n if its economy trembles ..economy of the whole world trembles.......now if the population in india was as low as egyt's population...then pci wld have been more than 10k......pci alone does not determine the economic prosperity of a country

so plzz refrain from giving hilarious arguments

Rafale is a true multi-role fighter. It's like 2jets in 1. Rafale can go into enemy territory without a support jet..... like for instance the F/A-18 E/Fs would have to be backed up by E-18 Growlers.

like some people already mentioned their is more to the deal than just buying the jet. the first acquisition of a new fighter is always the most expensive. If Egypt decided it wanted another 24 Rafale 5 years down the road they would only have to spend 2 billion to 2.5 billion.
