Africans didn't do anything to gandhi,I don't know why he was a racist towards them.
That was the stage of Gandhi's life when he ate all kinds of things he later spoke out against, wore British clothes, learnt ballroom dancing and in general tried to be more British than the British. This was one impact that Macaulay had sought very ardently, and Gandhi's behaviour at this unthinking, insensitive and inert stage of his life was a perfect vindication of Macaulay.
The astonishing thing is that this narrow-minded bigot had the mental make-up to examine each and every one of his tenets, and tear out and discard those that he found to be unsound.
I think you need to learn some history. He is the one who asked Nehru to give Jinnah a piece of the pie.
It went far beyond that. At one stage, he even contemplated offering Jinnah the Prime Ministership of a united Dominion. Jinnah was clear that it wouldn't work, and that Gandhi's imposed decision wouldn't last too long in the face of an enfuriated top rung of Congress leadership under Nehru and Patel.
????
A vast majority of the subcontinent to this day is racist towards blacks/africans.
Nice. Accurate.
We use racism as a weapon with which to beat up others, but remain racist ourselves.
It was spearheaded by Jinnah, but I prefer to credit Iqbal for the idea.
Please read a little more and reconsider. Iqbal actually repudiated the idea in one of his late speeches.
Dark skin not Blacks in general
Both, I should think.
Blacks playing victim card again.
The language used displays an inferiority complex of massive proportions, typical of the new left.
Be careful what you wish for.
Gandhi is synonymous with India and India with Gandhi. Any demonization of Gandhi outside India will inevitably lead to anti India feelings.
During my only visit to South Africa I had once pulled out an Indian currency by mistake to pay the cab driver (a black S.A). He immediately said 'Gandhi" with a huge smile and caught me by surprise. I did not expect him to know the man in the picture or have such a huge smile on his face when he saw that picture.
He asked me why Gandhi's picture was on the currency and I told him that 'Gandhi' was the father of the Nation. That made him so happy that he refused the fare and tip I gave him, but asked instead if he could keep the currency with the Gandhi picture with him.
Do you think he would have recognised George Washington or Abraham Lincoln on a US currency ?
Gandhi is synonym with Integrity, equity, courage, morality, ethics, strength, character and service. Do you really want to change that ? and replace it with who ?
What a load of Crap.
Hindus select their spouse from their own caste or jaathi. why would they select a african spouse ? That would be unnatural and against norms.
That does not make them 'racist', just choosy and rooted to their culture.
White, latinos etc do not share the same culture or transitions or history, so this false equivalence is a logical fallacy.
The only racist I see here is you with blatant racism against South Asians.
I don't entirely agree with you, but let me raise my hat to your robust defence.
No, please don't. He wants a stiff battle. He deserves - has earned - a stiff battle. Stay on and give him one. He may be obnoxious, but at least he's thinking.
I could help. What and how do you want to say your piece? Please could you also tag @TISSOT , @Dev Destroyer and @Russell ?
There is another who argued his rather nauseating point of view very well, but I'd rather not even name him.
