ISLAMABAD:
The ‘tsunami’ of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, it appears, is hurting his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) more than anybody else.

In what could be a blow for the party’s rising popularity, PTI’s newly appointed Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi has developed serious differences with Imran over his ‘unilateral decision’ to boycott last month’s by-elections.

Qureshi’s home constituency Multan, his only apparent political asset, was taken away by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s son. The former foreign minister fears the future elections would now be an uphill task for him.

The premier’s son, Ali Musa Gilani, literally had a walkover in the by-polls for the National Assembly by beating a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate with a margin of over 50,000 votes in the constituency.

Sources close to both Imran and Qureshi told The Express Tribune on Monday that both leaders had exchanged harsh words over what Qureshi said was a ‘unilateral decision’ made without consulting other party members.

Some PTI leaders say Qureshi is angry at Imran for letting Gillani’s son win the seat without a contest. They say the relationship between him and the PTI chief were so tense that Qureshi was contemplating parting ways and contesting the upcoming general elections as an independent candidate.

A member of his family, wishing not to be named, said Qureshi sometimes regrets his decision of choosing the PTI over PML-N. PTI officials said the former minister, who had considerable experience of parliamentary and constituency politics, had been trying to convince Imran not to stay away from the polls.

“You need to be in the system to change it,” sources quoted Qureshi as telling Imran, who has been calling himself a harbinger of change.

However, they said Imran was adamant on his decision of boycotting the by-elections.

Cracks in PTI?: Qureshi vexed at Imran over by-poll boycott – The Express Tribune

Intresting...

Well, SMQ is right, IK shouldn't boycott these elections, especially with PTI is still in it's early stages.

And you can only post negative topics about PTI?

from some days I am seeing propaganda against SMQ, just like previously it was done against Mazari...

Cat will not go away by mere closing eyes…face the reality rather bravely.

Personally I believe, Imran Khan out of sheer arrogance and pride as usual…couldn’t allow both SMQ & JH to take the limelight before him…!!

this is exactly what happened in Noon league, please have some self respect...

anyway apart from Propaganda, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Javed Hashmi (who is in USA to collect party funds for PTI) will accompany Imran Khan to Bahawalnagar tour (20th march) as they toured with him Sheikhupura, Nankana sahib and Sharakpur... also they are touring with him all the places...

exactly the cat wont disappear by closing eyes !!

Dear…I hope your confidence comes out true but at least either of both IK or SMQ should made a clarification note immediately to media on their rumored spat on By elections, otherwise it hurts PTI in every passing hour.

To an outsider it would seem that Imran Khan is either politically foolish or he is scared of very bad outing at the polls for his party which could expose him prematurely. Otherwise, no reason why he should not allow his party to contest the elections. By the end the real change (his version) could be implemented only when he has men in positions and power. Else is he looking forward to an Army intervention which will put him up at the altar of psuedo power in Pakistan?

Exactly…That’s the point his whole recent up-graph started from 30th October, 2011 Lahore Jalsa in which IK himself first time exposes “Memogate Scandal” voiceferously in Pakistan.

That is because an 'outsider' does not know the complexities of these so-called 'elections' in this country. Does an 'outsider' know that 45% of votes in this country have been declared as bogus and fake by the supreme court and still our by-elections are being held on same bogus voter lists? Does an outsider know that in recent by elections, an MP slapped a women staff of election commission just because she was not being accommodating?. Does an outsider know that our election commission is so impotent that in recent senate elections, the votes were literally sold for between Rs. 65 crore and 18 crore (depending upon the province) and still it couldn't do jack?

An 'outsider' does not know and perhaps would never know what is it like to contest election in Pakistan.

I think IK made a mistake here. PTI missed a golden opportunity which could have further boosted der popularity....
