It is not about property. It depends on your culture and background. Family can have a say in both a boys and a girls marriage choice in my opinion. A father and mother should advice. If course the final decision must be with the boy and girl.

When I see that my daughter marries a thug of course or a criminal, I am going to prevent and discourage this from happening.

But, Saudi parents don’t have a say. Even if they approve the marriage. It’s the government blocking marriages.

I made a general remark. A thug can exist in every nation and culture.

As a parent, I will always discourage my children to marry a person that has a bad reputation and lacks character/morals. I will also discourage them to go the interracial route.
