Question for my Vegan/ Vegetarian friends re Vitamin B-12 replenishment

so Question for my avid vegetarian friends is how you address the issue. what do you include in your diet? lunch breakfast or dinner?

some food, grains and lintels are supposed to have supplement of B12 as a meat alternative but question is how practical is it?

Hi, I am not a vegan/exclusively vegetarian, more an omnivore.

Vegetarians who will be including milk products like yogurt,cheese, icecream etc should be ok for vitamin B12 intake.

Vegans are the ones who will have it tough. Plant foods do not produce Vitamin B12

Alhamdulillah I'm Muslim.
so am I but Praise to Allah that non Muslims are also His creation
its a lifestyle choice one can be a Muslim and a vegetarian as well. I myself have not eaten beef and trust me .my faith has not been affected in anyway by the lack of it. respect for my non beef/ meat eating fellow citizens is just an added bonus.

the thread is absolutely out of the scope of religion and nationality. its about eating habits and I am only seeking some insight from nutritional and culinary point of view.

For a true follower, Islam is not just a belief system but a way of life and life style and I take whatever it allows me to take and give up whatever it asks to give up.

I eat vegetables and meat and all of the halal items.

Indians including vegetarians considered milk and milk products as most saatvik food items, so much so that cows are considered holy. So, Vitamin B12 is not an issue for a Hindu vegetarian. Vegans are not really a big deal in India, there would be probably less than 100 or so of them in India.

Need chicken in my life but other than that have a bad habit of not eating fruits as often as I should, therefore take supplements as a substitute.

No fan of red meat either perhaps a lamb shack on occasions.

Vitamin B12 is found in meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, yeast extract (such as Marmite) and specially fortified foods. The best sources of folate include green vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts and peas.

vitamin B12 and folate deficiency can be easily treated with injections or tablets to replace the missing vitamins.
