Hello my dear Bangladeshi brothers and sisters! As I was growin up, I was being told the horror stories of 1971 and Pakistan being split in to two and Bangladesh comming in to existence. My dad use to tell me that after 1971, every Pakistani was really hurt to the point where Pakistani became depressed!

Although I am born way after 1971 but for some reason it affects me. It affects me emotionaly that a country like Pakistan which came in to existence only because of Islam is split in to two.

Now my question to you guys is that in future, if Pakistan's economy is doing really good and once Pakistan takes care of all their issues, would there be any slight chance what so ever that Bangladash will want to form Union with Pakistan again? I am just curious if any such thing is possible or not and most importantly, would the majority of Bangladeshi people want to reunite with Pakistan or not? I want to hear opinions of Bangladeshi citizens only on this one!

I would personaly love Pakistan and Bangladesh becomming one country again and set aside their differences. Now please note that this thread is NOT to discuss what happened in 1971, how it happened or who is at fault. All I wanna know is sentiment of common Bangladeshi people for Pakistan or if given opportunity, would they join Pakistan or not! Thanks

when you say, "form Union with Pakistan again?", I'm guessing you're asking for merger/become an autonomous region of Pakistan

Given the metrics of the trajectory of Bangladesh's economic prospects, the question you should realistically be asking is whether Pakistan is willing to form Union with Bangladesh? and become its Autonomous region. Economic devp is an outcome of many decades of efforts, that can all be lost in less than a decade, if you lose sight of your goal. Recovering is much harder.
Not counting aid/forex-inflated economic figures that gets inflated with dictators at the helm, Pakistan has had no real tangible, economic engine.

As far as development through separation goes, Bangladesh is an incomparably better embodiment of Jinnah's vision

first of all bangladesh is better nation than pakistan, they are more peacefull than u pakistani they dont involve much in terror activities, all in all bangaladesh shud feel lucky to be got separated from pakistan

Guys! Let the BDs speak for themselves! It would be interesting to know what they feel on this issue.

I have a feeling that there are going to be two clear sets of answers. One from the pro Pakistani BD Jamatis on this forum and the other from the civilized society who have a love for their country. :pop:

& i am desperately waiting for your comments on this thread :D

I think it's a visionary proposition by the thread opener, Bangladeshis will be more than happy to get connected with their long lost brothers.

But the question is, what will be the name of the unified country?

Thanks for the positive thought! United Pakistan (UP) with Bangladesh as a province?

I know the comments of these Bangladeshis here. :D

Well it's a noble idea, but seems highly unlikely. As far as I remember , two countries have never joined together once they split. East and West Germany is the only example I can remember ( please correct me if i'm wrong) , and even this is not a fair example to consider because they were split due to totally different reasons , not civil war. It was just the US and Soviet Union trying to keep Germans apart.

Or United Bangladesh (UB) with Pakistan as a province? :cheesy:

That seems more plausible, given the growth rate and National security of both nations. And their PM being Sheikh Hasina. ;)
