[Question] About Education in Tibet

The Dalai Lama and his monks do nothing for Tibet. Whole of Tibet educations system, Schools, University all built by Chinese and funded by China government.

Its not important that Dalai Lama did nothing, anyway he got jobless because of China. The most important thing is that can he outdo China in developing Tibet.

Today we know Sikhim, Bhutan and Arunachal were sold to India by former Tibetan Elite now headed by Dalai. Also there is this Ladakh in India and Mustang in Nepal. All these are Tibetan land.

Other than Bhutan, anyone visiting these place will realize that they are shitthole. India and Nepal is Shitthole, so his land under their reign. Tibetan today have so many career opportunities. The "Sherpa" (aka Tibetan but Nepal choose another name to divide Tibetan) today make a living by portering Alpineers to summit Everest.

China Tibetan are those who can live with dignity. They are now engineers, state man, civil servants, doctors and profesionals.

Look at Ladakh, India told Ladakhi (aka Tibetan) that their language is not codified. So "Ladakhi" are force to learn English and Hindi. Dalai and USA pretend nothing happen.

But I think China can still do more for Tibet. Since Tibetan like Dalai, why not invite him back and give him some power, like what China has granted HK. Also China should force Han Chinese not only in Tibet but in else where to learn Tibetan language (or to learn Uighur and Kazak language).

The Tibetan problem is not mainly due to USA, and also the disfranchise oversea former tibet aristocrat want some share of power. China has no time to lose. We must better our minority policy. We need to act and stop USA from dividing us.

China won't force Han Chinese to speak Tibetan language, just like we won't force Tibetan to speak Chinese. They can learnt it by their personal interests, but won't force. As a Chinese, i think it's better to learn some Chinese coz if u wanna get more opportunity or earning rich it's better to speak Chinese in China.(Just like kinds of foreign immigrant come to U.S, to enter the mainstream of local society the English stronger than ur mother tongue), There's no any problem for a Tibetan to speak Tibetan language in Tibet, but if some Tibetan wanna leave Tibet and living in inland China, it's better to learn Chinese coz millions of Chinese living here impossible to force us to speak Tibetan language.

I do not like to destroy other people's culture and Dalai is a great deal to many Tibetan. Yes, we could develop ourselves and educate Tibetan out of their religion. I think if current trend persist, Tibetan will be out of Dalai's influence in 100 years. But I do not want that to happen.

I am a Min-Nan (Taiwanese lect) Chinese Singaporeans and my government is conducting cultural genocide against my tribe. I know the pain. I bet I have been to more part of Tibet land, many times than 99% of the commenter here.

I been Kangding of Sichuan, Shiquanhe of Tibet, Lhasa of Tibet, Deqin of Tibet, Tibetan valleys in Himachal Pradesh India, Tibetan exile haven in Dharamsala India. I been Kailash. I was awed by the values of Tibetan and I certain do not like development to destroy that values.

Without Dalai, development will injure a great deal of spirituality of Tibet. And right now China is in very serious moral decay. We need Tibetan to teach us values. And Tibetan need us to develop.

Can anyone briefly tell me how Tibetans are refusing Chinese educational system, if there's any?

Sorry for such bold questions, but recently I've heard stories about how Tibetans trying to declare independence, and all those nonsense. Then eventually, educational system was also brought into the conversation. So this makes me wonder what's exactly going on in Tibet right now.

Any help is very appreciated! I find Tibet is a very interesting topic, especially when you're living in the US lol.

EDIT: Also, how is Tibet part of China. What are the arguments from the Chinese side for such claim?

I graduate from a university in Beijing, and I have some friends from Tibet in university. There are even Tibetan high schools in Beijing.
I don't think they are refusing the education system.

Don't complain. The Han Chinese got most out of the deal. The Han majority make ourselves 2nd class citizen in exchange for Tibetan land. The deal is sweet.

Today you can lost Tibet by making them having same right with Han. Now they have free education. I propose giving them even more privileges. such as 60% subsidize housing, 100% free healthcare, 1 year of maternity leave, unemployment benefit of 500 Yuan a month. Tibetan will forget about Dalai Lama within 20 years and shout at roof top China is good.

Not only that, the Tibetan in India (Ladakh, Sikhim, Arunachal), and Nepal, will salivate like crazy. They will slow gravitate towards China.

The Han Chinese is the most non racist people. By doing good things to minority, we gain even more. Look far.

Tibetans enjoy free education of charge while the Han Chinese take up big tuition debt. After receiving education from Chinese. smart Tibetan realize that Han Chinese languages offers more economic opportunities. Also Han Chinese is richer transmitting information. There are many Tibet land in India and Nepal. They are now in shitt hole. Today Tibetans in China are the most educated Tibetan in whole planet. Excluding the Tibetan in western Europe, China Tibetan are the richest. Soon they will forget about the superstitious of Dalai group.

Dalai group have been screwing Tibet for long time until China bail Tibet out. Tibet land like Sikhim, Bhutan, South Tibet (Arunachal), are lost because Dalai group lick up British in order the betray China. Dalai group nearly got the the whole Tibet conquered by India, and India's ambition of Tibet was arrested because China won the 1962 Sino Indian war.

Nevertheless, the Chinese must be forgiving. I believe Dalai is part of the solution of Tibet. We must preserve Tibetan spirituality. I support inviting Dalai back to China and give him some power in Tibet. Developing Tibet without Dalai is not a win win situation. 100 years later, as Tibetan got more develop, they will rid themselves of more and more superstition.

I am not in favor of that. The Chinese has a lot of moral degeneration. We need to learn from Tibetan about values. To preserve Tibetan culture, we need to invite Dalai back.

The main gridlock today is Dalai demand power not only within Tibet province, but also Sichuan Tibetan land and Qinghai Tibet land. If Dalai can forgo that, I believe China and Tibet can reach an agreement fast.

Towards the end of 2006, there are total 1010 schools of various kind in Tibet region.

Of which 880 is elementary school (plus additional 1351 education spots) with 330,000 students. The elementary school education (note, under Chinese system, elementary school is grade 1 to 6) is established for 96.5% of the appropriate age population.

There are 93 middle schools (under Chinese system, middle school refers to grade 7 to 9) with 128,000 students. The ratio is 82.2% of the appropriate age population.

There are 25 high schools (Under Chinese system, high school refers to grade 10 to 12) with 37,677 students. In addition, there are 7 middle technical school (equivalent to high school) with 15,000 students. The ratio of high school level education for appropriate age population is 36.6%.

There are 6 university/technical colleges with 23,327 students. The ratio for appropriate age population is 16.3%.

Keep in mind this is data from 2006. The present day data should yield a higher education rate. Also, it should be noted that mandatory education in China is from grade 1 to grade 9 (basically elementary and middle school), which has education rate of 96.5% and 82.2% respectively.

However, the education after middle school is rather lackluster comparing to the rest of China. This is because even with all the policies helping the Tibet region, it is still one of the least developed part of the countries.

Many news western media reporting about Tibetan is a smear against China. Tibetan can even choose to get themselves educate in natural science in Tibetan language instead of Han Chinese. But many smart Tibetan choose Han Chinese over Tibetan languages due to better economic prospect. I think China need to calibrate this aspect further to preserve Tibetan languages.

The place where Tibetan ungoing cultural genocide is India Tibet land like Ladakh.
