Qatar-based telecom firms to invest in Pakistan’s ICT sector

ISLAMABAD: Qatar base telecom companies are keenly looking at Pakistan’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector for investment, as Pakistan has become a potential market after inception of 3G/4G. During a meeting between three-member team of Qatar-based telecom companies led by Wasim Ahmad chief executive officer Wi-tribe and Minister of State for IT Mrs Anusha Rahman, business experiences of the companies in Pakistan came under discussion. The minister said the government was planning to hold next auction of the remaining two spectrum licenses before middle of next year and it was a good sign Qatar-based telecom companies were expressing their interest for investment in Pakistan’s ICT sector and such gestures would further foster the fraternal relations between the two countries. Anusha said China Mobile was going to launch 4G services in the federal capital today. 4G licenses were awarded to them only three months ago and due to exceptional performance China mobiles was touching one million customers’ mark.
