look buddy this is clear sign of division, karachi and not PCB hosting international matches punjab and not pakistan hosting these events, we all should work together


i mean these events are frequently held in countries like france, germany etc, this should be made a large pakistan event where real athletes from around the world and the likes of uzain bolt etc can participate and we can have a large olympic stadiums etc

What kind of an argument is that ? There was Team Pakistan representing us not a Team Punjab ! The World Records made in the same Festival were by Non-Punjabis too !

You don't see Cannes renaming their international film festival to something that includes the word 'France' in it ?

this event should be organised by well funded body as the federal government, which has unlimited resources, also it represents pakistan and not one province, the pakistani involved will be counted, like KCCA hosted two international matches who's status was made irrelevant when PCB denied to involve in this event

this event cant be mature enough and serious enough if its only organised by one province and doesnt have equal contribution of one country

The team that took part on our behalf was represented by Pakistan not by Punjab ! The participants were from all over the country not from Punjab exclusively ! The Pakistani involvement was duly noted not that of Punjab !

Apparently it was serious enough & mature enough for enough countries to have sent their teams !

If the Federal Government isn't going to take any initiative & the said Province does then it is beyond ludicrous to blame it for unequal contribution !

The Cannes Film Festival was to impress upon you that non-country specific festivals like the Cannes or the Punjab Sports Festival are not a sign of division !

And yet the principal remains the same !

Imagine if PCB hosted our first real international cricket match only in Karachi & at that a match which was Pakistan vs International 11 ! What would a poor cricket fan like myself feel like ? Anger, being left out, jealousy, pin 'creating divisions' on PCB & Karachi ? No...its a non-issue ! Any initiative is welcome whether its from the Government of Balochistan, GB, Sindh, KPK, Punjab or the Federal Government ! Any positive step is more than welcoming & has my ownership....I'm not going to complain of unequal contribution & the sort like that just because someone else took a good step when others didn't !

im just saying if pakistani govt takes these steps, it will be a larger event then punjab govt holding these events, its like a scotland holding some olympics rather then britian, hope this example helps you out

well im basically trying to make him understand that this is good initiative of punjab government which should be taken to the higher level and pakistani govt encourage such events that all, i dont even mind if these events been aranged in lahore karachi islamabd and else where

punjab govt is a smaller part of the large part called pakistan govt, so it should be rather managed by pak govt with adequate media coverage and this is spell out positive message for all touring countries who wanna tour pakistan and open doors for international events and sports in pak

Why aren't you getting my point ? The Federal Government didn't but the Punjab Government did host an event in which all of Pakistan participated in the Province of Punjab in the Capital City of that Province ! Its not a zero-sum game...this one event isn't going to rope in millions of $$$ in FI for us nor does it imply that this somehow overshadows the rest of the country !

P.S Scotland holds the Island Games, the Highland Games, the Scottish Masters, the Scottish Cup, the Scottish League Cup, the Glasgow Cup & so many more annual events that they host every single year - I dunno if it implies that they are punching above 'Britain' ! It ain't a zero sum game...you have provincial hostings & you have national hostings !

P.P.S I could even argue that the Shandur Polo Festival should be instead scrapped in favor of an All Pakistan Polo Festival with greater resources & all of that ! But that would be stupid !

P.P.P.S Its not the Olympics or even the Commonwealth Games ! Its just a sport festival !
