This is dirty politics by imran khan . He was charging Rs 300 for the blood cbc results for dengue . GOVT of punjab forced him and other labs to conduct the tests for rs 90 for cbc. Imran khan had no option but to do the same test for rs 90 . Is this the person who has some sympathy for the people of punjab? He has done nothing for the people of lahore in this epidemic . He just wants to gain political goals out of an epidemic . DIRTY POLITICS VERY DIRTY.

Dengue fever test fee: Court asks private labs to follow govt order
From the Newspaper | Metropolitan > Lahore | By Our Staff Reporter
LAHORE, Sept 22: The Lahore High Court on Thursday ordered all private medical laboratories and hospitals to strictly obey the Punjab government direction and charge Rs90 for dengue fever test. The court also directed them to establish separate counters and wards to facilitate dengue virus infected patients.

The court ruled that contempt of court proceedings would be initiated against the laboratories found overcharging the dengue patients till Nov 15 next, the cut-off date of the government`s anti-dengue fever campaign.

Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan observed that the government would have to approach the court in case it wanted to extend its campaign.

The judge was hearing a writ petition challenging sealing of a medical laboratory allegedly for charging high fee for dengue test.

During the course of hearing, a law officer informed the court that drug inspectors were taking action against medical laboratories working without license and charging more than Rs90 for dengue test. He said only reception centres of laboratories were being sealed.

Justice Khan observed: “the government would not be allowed to seal laboratories on its own wish as prevailing critical situation direly needs functioning of more and more laboratories to facilitate the citizens.”

He said the government should avoid taking illegal steps and aggravate the situation to that extent. However, the judge also warned private lab owners and asked them it was their responsibility to cooperate with the government to lessen sufferings of the people.

The law officer also produced an order about de-sealing of petitioner`s laboratory at Lawrence Road. However, petitioner`s counsel Raza Kazim insisted that his client would charge Rs90 for dengue test but it was not possible to charge Rs90 for CBC test. The counsel argued that the government`s order about Rs90 was illegal and had no legal cohesion.

The judge, however, said it was not a case of legality or illegality rather it was a case of morality.

Advocate Kazim pointed out that Ittefaq Hospital was not following government directions and charging in excess from dengue patients. He also presented in the court test slips issued by the hospital.

At this the judge summoned the Ittefaq Hospital administration and deferred proceedings for some hours.

The judge resumed proceedings and chief executive officer of the hospital appeared before the court and stated that hospital was conducting free of cost CBC test for dengue patients while Rs90 was being charged for the same test from non-dengue patients.

He said the government had issued notification regarding Rs90 on Sept 17 last and the hospital had set up a separate counter for dengue patients.

Dr Mubashar Hasan, representing the Zeenat Lab, also owned the same statement and told the court that their lab would comply with the court order.

The court also ordered cancellation of FIR registered against employees of the petitioner`s laboratory.

Dr Zeenat Husain filed the petition and challenged sealing of Zeenat Laboratory during a raid conducted by government officials on Sept 19.
