PTI to hold intra-party elections ‘soon’

KARACHI: Imran Khan refused to remove the head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party in Karachi on Saturday, saying that workers would soon be able to elect their own representatives when intra-party elections are held.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman said this while addressing party workers at the Insaf House in Karachi. His visit to the metropolis was, however, marred by protests against the district leadership. A number of party members started shouting slogans against PTI Karachi president Ali Zaidi.

The protesters accused the PTI senior leadership of VIP culture and demanded the removal of Zaidi.

Advising them to stay calm, Imran said there was no need for protests as the party elections were just a few months away. “I will not remove Ali Zaidi,” he said, adding that it was not right to gather 15 people and demand the removal of senior leaders.

“To protest is your right as only well-informed people protest to bring their issues to the knowledge of their leaders,” Imran said. “[But] your captain cannot be blackmailed by these tactics.”

He said the party membership would be opened and all members and workers would choose their own district presidents. “No one will elect anyone except you, not even me,” he said pointing towards the protesting workers.

Due process. You can't just remove people because of a protest. Elections are due soon. Let the system take care of any issues. That is how institutions are built.

Actually, you can. This is what a protest is all about. If protests have no meaningful outcome, why do it?

Well if elections are to be held soon then why bother with a removal? It will only be filled by someone who will work on interim. Anyway I sincerely hope these intra party elections won't take forever like last time and the party gets reasonable time to campaign. He needs to finish the electoral process soon and quickly.

Actually, you can. This is what a protest is all about. If protests have no meaningful outcome, why do it?

well u know that u could say that about straggle for freedom of India Pakistan. they have tried for decade to achieve their objectives. for me its not about results. for me its about trying and standing up for what u believe in.

If its about results. Imran should have joined NS in 1992 when he was asked to join PMLN and easily be a minister . BUt he choose the hard way.

These elections are going to be a farce as long opportunists like Jahaz Tareen are sitting at the very top of Party Leadership.

bro u have to meet that guy in person. Dnt just hate him bcoz he had money . He is the most sane person PTI got . one of my favorites.
