The first link is covering a situation post NCV where in September 2022, Imran suggested that the new COAS appointment should be deferred. He was misquoted as saying Bajwa should be extended. That's what he was clarifying i.e. that he was talking about deferral of new appointment instead of a formal extension to Bajwa.
The second link covers the time before the NCV, where IK told COAS that if he is backing PDM due to them offering an extension, he could consider doing the same.

Well once the elections are announced, and establishment role redefined within Pakistan’s political landscape, everything would fall in place.
What I mean to say is, establishment to strictly focus on defense matters. Doubling as NRO givers, handling judiciary, gaming accountability system, rigging elections are a big no.
The army as an institution should stay strong as it is in Pakistan’s long term interest.
