Kestral is actually a DRDO-TATA joint development.

The platform is Kestrel, the weapon system for it will be from PT.

India will induct the Kestral along with a tracked FICV, trails of the Kestral are on going by the IA.

It all depends on govt , earlier govt used the procurement of arms as a big opportunity for kickbacks , other wise a country who can sends a Mars mission , cant develop a good rifle

Hope this govt get one more term and they force the Army to absorb the products of Indian companies ...and you will see in 10 years they get enough orders to get their own R&D and we have a strong private sector companies making defense products
