Much has been said on the recent second deportation of Nawaz Sharif. The most significant are two remarks about it. One is from Government that Saudi King had written a letter to the Pakistan Government quoting therein a Hadith wherein how importance honouring of a promise \is in Islam. The second remarks is of Lord Nazir that Saudis should self respect the sacred position ALLAH has given to that land and should do accordingly.
As far as honouring a promise is concerned I think it is not merely in Islam rather every religion and society mandates it. However a thing which has been ignored that these are the Saudis in the world who are on top of dis-honouring the promising made even though it is written and explicitly signed. I have remained amongst them for 16 years and have found Saudis are the worst one can imagine of in this regard. Thousands and thousands and thousand, repeat again thousands and thousands and thousands are victims and suffering in deep, alone in Holy cities of Mecca and Median, due to these non honouring of written promises made by Saudis. There are these thousands and thousands in these two cities from Inidia, Pakistan, Bangladesh workers who are not paid in accordance with their written “promises” {agreements) made. Under the law arranging and paying fees of Resident Permits, renewal, Exist and Re-Entry on Passports of these workers is the responsibility of the Saudi employers. 90% Saudis do not pay these. They extort from personal pockets of poor workers or cut from their salaries for arranging it. In thousands of cases they take cash from such workers with the promise these formalities of Resident Permits etc would be done in a month or so. Months pass to be finally told the money was spent if it is urgent give new money. This is not the stories just enquire from any body. There is no law in Saudi Arabia. Our educated but in fact mostly illiterate Pakistanis working there so much praise about respect of laws in Saudi Arabia or Arab countries but the fact the respect of law is only on limited areas. For example stopping at red traffic light, stopping cars to let pedestrians cross the road, hanging on possession of drugs of course is there and appreciable but there is no concept if not courage to take an employer to the court on account of dis-honouring the promise which in countries like Pakistani ever one can do. There is no concept of Law in Saudi Arabia on bigger issues eg. going to courts against human rights, constitutional petitions etc. For example if you own a old house and you love it since it is family house from your grand grand father it can be taken in a day from you if a royal want it to convert it into a hotel. Of course you will be paid much but you can not even in your dream think of going to court which in Pakistan you can. I remember during 1979-81 I was attending a two day course in Karachi for beginners in exports. It was inaugurated by the then Governor Talpur and lecturers were from worldwide. A lecturer from IBA during the lecture told we the learners that while dealing with Arabs particularly too rich Saudis be careful. During my stay in Arab countries I saw even the Arabs from UAE, Qatar, Oman etc did not like Saudis and they termed them a proudish and still Bhadoos. And this is a fact. Saudis are very proudish of their national wealth and feel every other nation below them.
There is an element of Saudis standing Guarantors to the so called agreement. A Guarantor is a guarantor only and not a party to the promise or agreement. For example I stand guarantor to XYZ for his taking loan from the Bank. My role with signing of the agreement gets finished unless XYZ does not pay back the loan. Even in such a case I can not prompt myself unless a party eg the bank advise me to play my role as a guarantor. It can not never be digested that the Saudis prompted themselves to stree on Nawaz Sharif not to come to Pakistan or re-deportation unless the Pakistani Government forced the Saudis to do this.
On Benazir Musharraf deal definitely Nawaz Sharif got some popularity. He tried to take advantage of it and came to Pakistan. Tuesday 11th till morning I as a human being felt sorry what happened with him and did not believe government statement that on three options at Islamabad airport he opted for going to Saudi Arabia. I felt he was forcibly deports. However by the evening see a news item my brain and closed eyes opened and it flashed that the Government was quite right that Nawaz himself went on deportation seeing how half heartedly his party did for his welcome and the ordinary public did not come out. In the evening there was a news item that Nwaz’s daughter Mariam and her husband Capt. Safdar were going to Saudi Arabia. At the same time the news item was that Begum Kalsum Nawaz was going to Jeddah from where in 2-3 days she will go to Pakistan (to lead the party as earlier announced by her). Only a fool can think of Begum Kulsum or any other prominent member of Nawaz family will be allowed to go to Pakistan by Saudis as all these families members are part of the agreement which according to Nawaz was valid for 5 years only. Seeing the miserable political and public practical support now it is clear it is all drama. Kulsum Nawaz does not want to go to Pakistan. She knows like her husband she will be confined in Jeddah and thus she will have an better excuse rather face the definite failure. It is now also written on the wall the advisers of General are more sharp than thought and Benazir will ultimately fate a similar humiliating face as met by Nawaz Sharif.
Coming to remarks of Lord Nazir, having lived in Saudi Arabia despite seeing how much the Saudis spend on arrangements for visitors to Mecca and Media, I agree to Iranian signals that these two Holy Cities one day might be considered as Muslim International Cities.
