President Xi's state visit to US: news & updates

What do you expect? Its the pope!

Not just any pope too, but the super pope!

In all seriousness he is a pope who actually acts like a pope should act, so by default he is a great guy.

You don't have to be catholic to like him.

This pope has been an actual force for good in the world. Given his accomplishments in the exercise of compassion, kindness, and humility, what you've implied is extremely disrespectful.

We are all atheists in a thread about president Xi's US visit. You are here making a noise about “Super Pope”. What do you expect, boy?

I see that China's presidential aircraft is still the good but aging 747-400. The deal can be a chance to replace it with a more modern Boeing. :D

It can be replaced by Y-20 civilian version soon :D
"Look at that face. Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that? The face of our next president?"

Personally, I think this is a terrible deal. With so much American influence in the Chinese domestic aerospace market as it stands today, this would only remove further investment into domestic COMAC projects, taking revenue away from projects such as the C919. How is China supposed to increase domestic consumption if it keeps handing out slices of the pie to American monopoly in China's own market?

China seriously needs to reel away from American influence in the cutting-edge technology sector and boost its own market and consumption.

Boeing Sees Demand in China for 6,330 Airplanes Valued at Nearly $1 Trillion - Aug 25, 2015

How does 300 Boeing airplane affects a market that needs 6330 planes in next 20 years? Precisely, we need to buy some American products to keep their warmonger fanatic shut up and keep warmonger US general about taking real action in SCS instead just a ranting.

C919 just need to sell at least 500 planes to be a success. President Xi will ensure our C919 has their shares in China market.

"C919 just need to sell at least 500 planes to be a success."
What did this mean? How much they have invested in the C919 project?

This is the amount to turn all the R&D plus cost setting of production to turn into profit. I think spokesman for C919 mention that. Plus not to mention the continuous maintenance and support chain based in China to support the C919 that can make money. It will generate a lot of money and plus retain man foreign exhange in China.

I originally posted here to explain why Xi had so much less coverage than the pope, a mixture of a good segment of the US being Christian/Catholic, His actions that are actually a force for good, and his compassion for fellow men, along with the fact that he is the first pope to adress congress.

After that...I guess I expected more than the equivalent of shi*ting on the Mona Lisa and calling it an improvement. Too much to ask for I guess...

This is the same religion that burnt people to the stake because they did not believe the earth revolved around the sun. This is also the religion that loves altar boys.

I disagree. Foreign supplies need to end, like now, in order to push domestic development to completion. Look how many years the C919 is behind.

Furthermore, Boeing is adding a final production stage plant in China, not some in-process manufacturing plant, but a stupid decorating lane, which Chinese engineers will get nothing out of, while Boeing can only hope to procure more orders from this joint venture. More money earned by a US monopoly, more orders taken away from domestic manufacturers in the long-term, with short-term repercussions also.

300 isn't such a large number when compared to 6,330, but over what period is the 300 going to be delivered? 10 years? 5? 1 year? If it's a one year plan, with further such quantities to follow in the oncoming years, the domestic market is in deep trouble. This is Boeing's primary objective in China, to crush domestic competition, and so far, they are succeeding.

Not only is Boeing succeeding in crushing their COMAC competition in China by persuading the Chinese leadership to rely less on their domestic manufacturer, impeding development progress, the slowed progress would mean Chinese imports to overseas customers would be delayed also, providing Boeing less resistance in markets all around the globe, allowing them retain global aerospace market dominance.

Bad news for China. The leadership needs to wake up pronto and scrap this sneaky deal.

Yes, this deal is a huge challenge to domestical aero industry, the C919. Similar things had happened several times in other industries, such as power plant, new material...

This deal will also push the C919 hurry up, they have stated delay twice because of techlogical issues. No force, no motivation. Hope this time, they can win.

Oh yeah I forgot Xi is visiting the U.S. Hmm not getting much coverage.

lol, Obama sit with pope, in his brain there are all Xi.

Agreed with you on the motivation part, hope this is not going to carve a lot of market share long-term from further purchases. The C919 program needs as much support going for it as possible, this is a crucial time since it will be COMAC's first ever single-aisle commercial aircraft.

C919's crucial time. I guess Boeing may reduce the price of its planes this time, this is their weapon which was used many times in previous industry competition.

When Chinese manufacturer can't fabricate one thing, foreign supplier offer the sky-high price, gain huge profits. When China own the ability, they reduce price to impact the potential project.

If this get delay again, then we can say for sure the Boeing deal have an impact on that.

However, the domestic civil aerospace industry is not enough developed, even experienced workers in according industry is not enough. In now stage of development of Chinese civil aerospace industry any styles of import of plant are beneficial.
The establishment of the great civil aerospace industry in China is the national will, we have gotten the lesson from the Y-10 project. The same mistakes will never be made by us.

Your coverage:o:, come on, in China no one cares about that.

C919 is to stay, as it is the determination of a great nation. The tragedy of Y-10 will not repeat.
