President Xi meets Japanese PM

I can't agree with you more.A greater, prosperous and dynamic east-Asian sphere is also our Chinese people' dream

That is the shared dream we Japanese have with you Chinese. Afterall, in the eyes of all Japanese and Chinese, the center of the world is East Asia. I pray that this century, and in the next, East Asia will see and experience unprecedented development , growth, and shared prosperity.

NO......the center of the world is going to be South Asia with Pakistan at its center !

Do you see that will be happening with a Japanese PM like Abe and the general attiude of the Japanese? :dirol:

Abe will not stay in power for ever. He will be replaced with pro-China LDP parliamentarians. For an example, His Excellency, Minister of Justice -- Tanigaki Sadakazu. He is extremely PRO-CHINA. He is also popular in the Diet, especially in his own party, the LDP (Liberal Democratic Party of Japan).

If Xi is a weak leader and he meets with Abe, the domestic audience would lynch him.
In my opinion though, this meeting is a mistake. Abe really needed this but Xi doesnt.

It is geopolitics.

No matter how strong China is and further gets, it still needs an environment that is conducive to economic development. How can China assume regional leadership when it keeps the second most powerful regional power at arm's length?

Like Nihonjin said above, politicians come and go; it is probably better to lay the ground now for an upcoming (possible) more friendly and cooperative leadership in Japan.

Also think this way, the US has been trying its best to sow further discord between China and everybody else, including Japan. If isolating Japan is good for China, why does the US kills itself to reinforce it? Oftentimes, they know what is worst for China and it is smart to do just the opposite while still holding all the cards, exit clauses, plan Bs, Cs and Ds.

China is doing just that. This handshake did not change the position on the islands and other issues. It just has given Japan a greater room for maneuver so that the leadership there would take some positive steps while still saving the face. Without a handshake, how can Mr. Abe sell a more friendly relationship to his more nationalist home audience?

It's very difficult for Xi to shake hands with Abe .

He looks ten, or heck, twenty years younger than he actually is. :D

Tanigaki-Sensei looks Chinese to me, he has a Chinese beauty to him. I would not be surprised if he has some kind of Chinese ancestry.
