President of India Pays Floral Tributes to Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on his Birth Anniversary

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee paid floral tributes to Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India on the occasion of his birth anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (October 15, 2016). Officers and staff of Rashtrapati Bhavan along with family members of Dr. Kalam also paid floral tributes on the occasion.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has paid tributes to former President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary.

“Tributes to our former President, the person who captured the imagination of every Indian, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary”, the Prime Minister said.

Kalam was born on October 15, 1931 in Rameswaram town of Tamil Nadu and died due to a cardiac arrest on July 27 last year while delivering a speech at IIM Shillong.

Kalam made significant contribution as project director to develop India’s first indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-3) which successfully injected the Rohini satellite in the Earth orbit in July 1980 and made the country an exclusive member of Space Club.

Rameswaram: The construction work on a memorial for former President A P J Abdul Kalam began in Peikarumbu here today on the occasion of his 85th birth anniversary.

The former President's elder brother APJ Muthumeeran Maraikayar performed the 'Bhoomi Puja' at the memorial site, marking the commencement of the construction work.

Several students and family members of the former president and government officials took part in the event.

Yesterday, a team of DRDO officials led by PK Singh had visited the site and held discussions with local officials regarding various aspects of the memorial.

A total of Rs 50 crore had been allocated for the memorial and a knowledge centre, they had said.

In the first phase, Rs 15 crore would be spent on the construction of the memorial on a 27,000 sq ft area.

It would cover the burial site and a statue of Kalam.

The memorial would be ready for inauguration on July 27 next year, the second death anniversary of the former President.

The construction of knowledge centre will be taken up in the second phase, they added.

DRDO Paid Tributes to Dr Kalam on his 85th Birth Anniversary

Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) paid rich tributes to Former President of India and former DRDO Chief, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on his 85th Birth Anniversary at a gala function held in Kothari Auditorium at DRDO Bhawan today.

For the first time, students from various schools of Delhi were also invited at DRDO Bhawan on this occasion. The purpose was to motivate the children with the diverse and great qualities of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who had special affinity for children and youth of the country. Young scientist from various DRDO labs were also invited.

Dr W Selvamurthy, former Chief Controller of DRDO and a renowned scientist graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Shri GS Malik, Distinguished Scientist & Chief Controller at DRDO delivered the welcome address where he remembered Dr Kalam who gave the Mantra of self-reliance in Defence Technology.

Dr Manas K Mandal, Distinguished Scientist & Director General (Life Sciences) at DRDO also delivered the lecture and described Dr Kalam as a leader who was born to bring the change. He also motivated the audience particularly students to make consistent effort towards innovation.

Dr Selvamurthy in his address cherished the days of his association with Dr Kalam in DRDO, and termed him as a Personality- easy to admire, difficult to emulate. He described Dr Kalam as a man of ethos and values. Dr Selvamurthy, said in his speech that the day is very special for the students as the UN has declared October 15 as World Students Day. He delivered a very inspirational presentation in a lucid way and concluded his talk by asking everyone to take oath to imbibe the qualities of Dr Kalam in their life.

Later, the children were taken to visit the Museum at DRDO Bhawan, where the students took keen interest in the life and work of Dr Kalam depicted in the gallery. The function was concluded with the recitation of National Anthem.

What a Visionary.... What a Human.. What a Teacher..... a Living Buddha and Vivekananda of our Times...

If we get 100 x Kalams or Bhabhas .. There is NOTHING that can STOP India reach its Destiny.

Indian Nation cant be stopped now by any one.

We are already in the elites of the super powers but we dont show our military might like other nations.

I think his biggest legacy is still the 2012 theory.
