The current electoral system does not suit countries like Pakistan. This rotten carcass was engineered by Gen Zia since the introduction of non party based elections, which only favoured a few elite families. Imran entered the real political arena very late in his life and so far has not achieved much. Maybe with his massive vote bank he can become a great kingmaker with all the strings in his hands. If the current scenario persists for another few months i am afraid he might erode his popularity rapidly. As a presidential candidate i dont think he can get more than half the votes unless he aligns himself to those he despised so much!!!.

Idiotic people think that corrupt mafia will allow Presidential system in Pakistan. Bureaucracy and PTI’s many MNAs and MPAs don’t want real reform that’s why IK decided to bring real experts instead of useless ministers. System is rotten to the core and can’t be changed without major reforms in institutions and decentralized of power to district and union council level.

The biggest challenge for IK is to reduce the prices of basic necessities. Majority of our Quam is illiterate and don’t care about reforms. They want government to reduce prices of basic commodities, for example, rice, corn, wheat, flour, bread, meat (Goat, beef and poultry meat), fresh eggs, fresh and processed milk, infant formulas, fresh fruits & vegetables, onions, garlic, lentils, Tea, sugar, cooking oil, salt, laundry soap, detergents, candles and other commodities. Public want discounts on electric and gas charges, reduced prices of petrol and Diesel.

If we had presidential system Nawaz or god-forbid Bilawal would be president right now.

Dont forget that this govt is only in power because of a parliamentary coalition.

Strong rumours in Isloo since the start of November that IK might join the following very soon!!!

Why not declare him Caliph if things have gone so desperate !!

I think they want to do this because he keeps overstepping the constitutional boundaries of the post of prime minister.

he leads a political party which is as democratic as it is corrupt so his people want to do a Zardari.

lightning only strikes twice if you have the devil's horns growing too fast

Ignore that youtuber but i think Presidential system is still better compared to the parliamentary system.

There are undemocratic people want to restore Presidential system in Pakistan. We had Presidential system and it proved to be ineffectual.

As a silent observer on this forum one thing I have realized is how the quality has dropped significantly due to posters who are simply unaware of the facts... Presidential system is best suited for Pakistan. Simply look at history... anytime Pakistan had a presidential system in place economic growth rate, security, foreign policy had been topnoch few examples include Ayub kha, zia, and musharaf era's.

One of the primary reason Pakistan is so far behind today is due to the corrupt Parliamentary system. MNA/MPA's are more interested in their districts rather than national interests, easily willing to switch loyalties for little benefits... results being in the last 20 years our political class has barely changed. We need a strong Presidential system to make strong willed and quick descisions.. this parliamentary experiment has failed us. Parliamentary system can only work in homogeneous societies where the majority ethnic group is 80%+ ie UK, Bangladesh, Australia, etc... In Pakistan we have 3-4 major ethnic groups.

Last time we had presidential system we lost half of the country.

Can't put too much power in one persons hand. Parliamentary system as bad as it might be is still better then Presidential system.

.
We didn't lose Punjab Sindh KP or Balochistan. Bangladesh a small piece of land 1000 miles away from Pakistan surrounded by India from 4 sides was not half of country.

Not size wise population wise.

East Pakistan 65 million
West Pakistan 58 million

East Pakistan was roughly 147,570 square kilometers. Not a small size.

.
And Pakistan is 881000 square km. Pakistan lost Bangladesh due to its location not due to any system. It was surrounded by India from 4 sides.

Not a correct conclusion. We did not loose East Pakistan because it was surrounded by India. We lost East Pakistan because the people there came to conclusion that system in place in Pakistan was not solving their problems and sharing of resources was not on fair.
