Pres Zillur Rahman pardoned convicted murderer

Abbe do not talk about my country if you do not want me to talk about india. In india only 3% Muslims have government jobs and that's the statistics from your indian media. The Muslim presidents and prime ministers are all in that 3%, so stop talking about that, the topic is rapists and convicted murderers being pardoned by the AL government.

Please talk about India.

Let us clear the cobwebs that are impeding comprehension.

We are not afraid as you all are to discuss issues.

Its not being afraid but its about indian tendency to poke their nose in someone else matter.

They are not poking their nose.

The are more internationally aware and maybe better educated to be able to comment.

Maybe their exposing of falsehoods, false bravado and fantasies, because of their superior knowledge, does irk the unequipped. I concede that.

On a forum, you must learn, there is nothing called 'someone else's affair'.

This is not a conference of Prime Minister to Prime Minister.

Since you all are not afraid, please discuss about the quotes given to the Muslims of India.

One must also remember who are the Muslims of India? Some who remained to look after ancestral property (they are normally the Nawabs etc), but the majority are the illiterate artisans. They, inspite of reservations do not come to the way reduced standards. Whose fault is it?

These days, owing to realisation that a small family allows the parents to spare money for education beyond the religion only teaching of the madrassas, they are increasing in numbers in all areas, including the private sector, where there is no reservations. Their coming of age, is a salute to India and its secularism!

YOu are misinformed. They even brought a guy from sweden to pardoned while other convicts were executed in the same case. I dont have the link but others could recall.

Typical of Iajdani, in order to justify awami outrageous acts you trying to equate Jintu (guy from Sweden) case what Awami league did.

Jintu (guy from Sweden) was convicted by a military court during marshal law. And military court does not have much due process and opportunity for self defence. Any such conviction is questionable and his pardon was better justified.

On the other hand Pres Zillur Rahman pardoned a convicted killer from Awami Leahue who is convicted by civil court after following all due process. In fact this Awami man also convicted for two other different murder case for killing two other person.

This is blatant abuse of presidential power and this is not the first time. Last year same Awami president pardonded another 20 Awami activist including SM Firoz who was conviceted for killing Jubo Dal leader Sabbir Hossain Gama, also the nephew of former BNP central leader Ruhul Kuddus Talukdar Dulu.

Awami regime and hand of their Pres Zillur Rahman are stained with blood.

.
Also Khaleda's because of the pardon of not Jintu but Pintu.

Christ, you don't even know of your country and you all claim that Indians are poking their nose!

Please see this

In terms of precedent, the president has certainly done nothing wrong. If you remember, during the rule of BNP between 2001 and 2006, the then president created a furore by granting clemency to an individual who had fled to Europe as a way of evading justice. In the end, justice did not catch up with him. He was pardoned. There was outrage in the country. The pardoned man's name was Jintu. Please recall that the then law minister Moudud Ahmed had a hard time explaining the act to the nation. His arguments were unconvincing.

President pardons 21 AL activists in death row

Tue, 07/09/2010 - 12:40am

President Zillur Rahman granted clemency to 20 Awami League activists sentenced to death for murder are being set free from Dhaka and Rajshahi Central jails anytime now.

Sadar Upazila Parishad vice-chairman Asadur Rahman Asad told UNB yesterday night that documents of the President's granting their mercy petitions reached the Dhaka and Rajshahi jails on Thursday. They likely to be released today.

Dhaka Central Jail sources confirmed the receipt of clemency order. "We are examining the documents. They will be set free tonight or tomorrow," a senior jail official told UNB.

Judge Firoze Alam of the Speedy Trial Tribunal of Dhaka had sentenced 21 people, including Naldanga thana Awami League general secretary SM Feroze on August 24, 2006 for murder of Jubo Dal leader Sabbir Hossain Gama, also the nephew of former BNP central leader Ruhul Kuddus Talukdar Dulu.

One of the convicts, Akbar Ali, remained fugitive since the incident while ten each are now in Dhaka and Rajshahi Central Jails.

The convicts, all Awami League activists of Naldanga, had made mercy petitions to the President, which were granted, said Asadur Rahman.

They had been accused of hacking and shooting down Sabbir Hossain at Kazipur Kamarpara bazaar on February 7, 2004 by terrorists. The killers had left the spot raising slogans of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party.

His father Rafiqul Islam Talukdar had filed the murder case against 16 identified AL activists and about 16 others unknown. Police investigator charge-sheeted them. Natore District and Sessions judge's court transferred the case to the Speedy Trial Tribunal Court in Dhaka that convicted and sentenced 21 persons to death.

Those in Dhaka Central Jail are: SM Firoze and his brothers Fazlul Haq Master and Farooq Hossain, Anisur Rahman and his sons Sentu and Farooq, Shahjahan Ali, Badal, Zahedul Islam and Faruq Hossain.

Zahurul Shah, Sajjad, Sohag, Bablu, Abul, Ataur, Ashraf, Formazul, Fakhruddin and Ohidur Rahman are in Rajshahi Jail.

Who will ensure our safety? Asks Rashida

→ Saidul Haque

“I want exemplary punishment to the killers of my husband. I want full protection of my family members,” says Shahin Rashida Islam, wife of slain Laxmipur district BNP leader Nurul Islam.

President Zillur Rahman’s clemency for AHM Biplob has taken Rashida aback and questioned the justification of the president’s prerogative.

“We are shocked and living in a sense of insecurity. How come a killer is so dominant in society?” she told daily sun on Friday evening.

Some lawyers vented their grievances against the president for granting the reported killer’s plea for clemency.

Khandker Mahbub Hossain, chief of Supreme Court Bar Association, said the president did not know about the merit of the case. “He simply signed the file sent by the home ministry in this regard.”

“I do not support awarding clemency to this hardened criminal. His death sentence might be commuted to life imprisonment,” he added.

“The persons in the home ministry, who forwarded the file to the president, should be held responsible for such clemency.”

Zillur Rahman granted mercy to one of the convicts in the murder case, AHM Biplob, son of local Awami League leader Abu Taher.

The clemency order came into effect from July 14.

Regretting a recent statement by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that the accused was given clemency as he was falsely implicated in the case, Mahbub said, “The premier left no room for objective criticism on clemency. It also appears from her statement that the ruling party supporters are only implicated in the politically motivated cases, not the opposition supporters.”

Despite contact with the president’s office, no one agreed to talk in this regard.

Biplob is also facing life sentence in two more cases, including a murder case.

The Speedy Trial Tribunal of Chittagong on December 9, 2003 condemned five people, including Biplob, to death for kidnapping and murdering Nurul and nine others were sentenced to life and two-five years in jail in the case.

On September 18, 2000, advocate Nurul Islam, the then organising secretary of Laxmipur BNP, was abducted. He was hacked to dead and his body dumped in the river Meghna.

The tribunal in its verdict acquitted 15 of the 31 accused. Abu Taher, the then general secretary of Awami League’s Laxmipur district unit, and his wife Nazma Taher were among the acquitted.

However, Biplob surrendered to the Laxmipur District Judge Court on April 4 this year after absconding for over 10 years and pleaded for the president’s mercy for three cases, including Nurul Islam murder case.

Moreover, Zillur Rahman pardoned 20 death row convicts in Jubo Dal leader Gama killing case on September 6, 2010.

In 2004, Sabbir Ahmed Gama, the nephew of former deputy minister Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu, was gunned down in Natore.

And for Bangladeshis, they inherited memory of indian interference, indian hegemonic acts, killing of Bangladeshis and indian stooge awami regime.

It is Prime Minister Hasina, Dude!
BY Rumi Ahmed

it-is-hasina.jpg

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina (left). Wife and son of the slain BNP leader Nurul Islam. Islam's convicted murderer, son of an Awami League leaders, having their death sentences retained in courts, has been pardoned by President Zillur Rahman. Legal experts and commentators, including Awami League leaders, said that the President just complied with what they say the political decision of Sheikh Hasina led Awami League government.

People as well as the media say President Pardoned Lakshmipur murderer AHM Biplob. The difference is that people don't know the fact while the media know that it is in fact Prime Minister Hasina who made the presidential mercy possible. Constitutionally and by rule of business President only signs what Prime Minister's office sends him to sign.

A President cannot decline to sign such pardons. The person deciding the pardon is PM Hasina. It only needs the PM to say, pardon him. Then the law ministry paperwork begins, PMO follows through and President signs. The following was the crime Prime Minister Hasina probably thought pardonable.

Nurul Islam was a lawyer. He used to provide pro bono legal help to the grassroots political activists of his constituency, Lakshmipur. This was part of his community political activism. He probably hoped to run for a local government public office from his locality. This is the basic of textbook political activism, in any standard &mdash be it in USA, be it in France, and be it in Brazil or India.

His opponents in politics, however, were not that avid subscriber of basic textbook political activism. Local Awami League leader Abu Taher hater hated legal challenges to his lawless and ruthless political career. So one night he sent his sons and other followers to take care of Nurul Islam. A group of men, led by sons of Taher including AHM Biplab, went to Nurul Islam's home, broke open his door, forcefully brought out Nurul Islam who was trying to hide under the bed. They drove him to Taher's home. In front yard, in front of Taher's wife and probably Taher himself, despite repeated mercy plea by Nurul Islam, despite relentless begging of life, despite loud crying to see his baby daughters one last time &mdash- Biplab et el held Nurul Islam on the ground and slaughtered Nurul Islam. They then chopped Nurul Islam into pieces, carried the pieces in jute bags, drove to the river bank and threw the pieces of Nurul Islam remains in different locations.

Despite huge media coverage, because Taher was a leader of ruling Awami League, because the then PM, Sheikh Hasina did not feel like bringing Taher to books, legal process stumbled and nothing happened until AL was voted out of power. As law ran in its own pace, finally partial conviction was obtained and Biplob was sentenced to death in lower court. He however remained absconding all along. As Awami League returned to power with the help of a dwarf general in 2008, Biplab, an absconding murderer, despite death penalty, came out of hiding and resumed flexing muscle in local Lakshmipur politics. Last year Abu Taher got PM Hasina's blessings and ruling Awami League nomination to run for local government election. His muscle kids forced a victory. A this week PM Hasina used her executive power to have the president commute the death sentence for the above murder.

__________________________________________________

First it is Taher, his wife and sons who do not find it disturbing to tie someone, hold him down to the ground, slaughter him ignoring loud cries and begging for life and to chop him into pieces. Our PM must have read the description of the killing which is a part of the verdict. Any executive giving final approval of pardon recommendation must read the verdict. We don't want to believe that our PM did not follow this rule. So after Taher family, it is the mind of PM Hasina who does not find it disturbing to read about the above crimes and approve of it by commuting sentence.

And then it is our media and intellectuals who don't find it disturbing to play politics by harping for the umpteenth time that AL BNP both are equally bad. In this AHM Biplab pardon case, they will tell the nation that Awami League did it now BNP did it in the past.

Ok what Hasina/AL did? No one knows the full extent of the truth. So far we know of pardoning of senior AL leader, Deputy leader of Parliament Sajeda Chowdhury's son, Sajed Akbar, who even did not bother to surrender from fugitive status.

Then we know of commutation of sentences of 20 death row convicts of BNP leader Gamma murder. These people chopped young Sabbir Ahmed Gama to death. And they were tried through an open transparent and lengthy legal process and were handed death sentence. Yet PM Hasina commuted the sentence. It is a pattern. She does not find killing, chopping, slaughtering of a BNP leader much a crime.

By comparison, what BNP did? A death sentence of a purely non political case was commuted. The basic reasoning of that commutation was that the death sentence was handed by a summery martial law court. That court did not follow normal legal process, the process was not transparent and the defendant did not have much legal rights. However the convicts BNP past and connection with law minister may have helped the pardon. In pardon cases &mdash- the crime, the quality of trial rather than political identity should be considered. In this case martial law court conviction should have been the reason of commutation, not the convicts political identity.

Yet our intellectuals will keep on harping that both Awami League and BNP did the same thing and try to shield the vicious killer mindset of Prime Minister Hasina. The problem is that a killer instinct cannot be hidden for too long. Those who try to hide or protect a killer mindset for personal gains become inevitable victims at some point.

hahhahahaha......lol.....

Again ... Hindu evil bharti .... ruining BD

Once again not surprised.

In many cases a party depends on these guys for funding. When the local cadres collect Chanda, part of that goes to the main political party. This is one of the main reason why they never get rid of these thugs. Its about money. It costs money to run a giant party like AL. General population do not contribute, so the money has to come from some source besides the big businesses.

Patience is running thin!! I don't see an end to the BNP/AL two-family monarchy unless some fresh blood challenges their hold in BD politics. General Zia, a Mahathir category dictator, did all he could to safeguard BD and propel the nation into prosperity, but that wasn't enough. We need a Stalin category dictator this time around. The current political class and the grassroots activists need to be disciplined!!!
