Premier Wen: We encourage all sides to calm down and restrain themselves, and do not allow the matter to escalate or cause conflict. If there is any conflict, it is South Korea that will suffer the most, China may also be dragged in.

I guess the following translation is probably more appropriate:

Premier Wen: We encourage all sides to calm down and restrain themselves, and do not allow the matter to escalate or cause conflict. If there is a conflict, it is the people of South Korea that will suffer the most. It will also be very difficult for China to stay away from it (the sufferance).

Keep the stat quo in the peninsular is in the best interest of China. It doesn’t matter who sank/sinks what.

I remember SK navy also damaged an NK ship a while ago. Did NK whine?

South Korean, North Korean Warships Exchange Fire (Update4) - Bloomberg.com

...

The North Korean vessel ventured 1.3 kilometers (0.8 miles) into waters claimed by South Korea at about 10:33 a.m. local time today, triggering a two-minute clash that left 15 holes in the South Korean vessel, according to the military. The North’s ship returned across the border in flames after it was badly damaged, Yonhap News reported, citing a government official in Seoul whom it didn’t identify.

Is China a party to the Korean agreement / disagreement on unification / resultant scenario from the War? Was there such an accord ever signed between North Korea and China that N.K will remain to be the buffer state of China and will take punishments as China advises limited to the economic punishment only the tune that the poor refugees do not move in to China?

Friend, after you read this, you will know why.

NK is the only country that China has a military treaty with. This treaty is recently renewed to 2021. People's Republic of China ? North Korea relations - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

gpit is right. Every country has sensitive areas. In 1962, the United States brought the world to the nuclear precipice over the Cuban missile crisis.

From the U.S. perspective, nuclear missiles stationed on Cuba and aimed at the United States is unacceptable.

Similarly, China will not tolerate a foreign army occupying North Korea and camping on the Chinese border.

.
<4) If South Korea chooses to wage a full-scale war against North Korea, North Korea will unleash thousands of artillery guns and "it will be South Korea that suffers the most." South Korea will eventually defeat the North Korean military.>

Dude, WTF?

NK destroyed SK in the first Korean war. But NK was destroyed by the US and China had to save NK's ***.

The NK military is more motivated to fight than the SK military. These two militaries remind me of the NV military and SV military in Vietnam war.

Consider this: If you live in an economically better city would you be more motivated to fight than if you were to live in an economically less prosperous city?

You live in the US right? Just think which people would be more motivated to fight physically the south side of Chicago or the north side of Chicago?

<Similarly, China will not tolerate a foreign army occupying North Korea and camping on the Chinese border.>

Russia would not tolerate this too.

.
^^ i read an analysis days ago saying that it doesn't matter which side could win a war, NK or SK. neither is important whether NK would use nukes or not. The clear and undisputable result would be : in the first several hours of the war, NK artillaries would send Seul back literally into 1980s, with approximately 200,000 to 300,000 casualties along with that. This would be within the first several hours of the war ONLY.

The question is if SK still dares to fight and win the conflict with this kind of price tag.

.
< neither is important whether NK would use nukes or not.>

NK would not use the nuke card if it were to fight SK alone.

<The question is if SK still dares to fight and win the conflict with this kind of price tag.>

No, SK would not dare to destroy its economy and industrial based companies (Samsung, LG, Hynix, Hyundai, etc.) and furthermore NK would win the war without the intervention of the US.

.
South Koreans are the people living next to the dear leader, not us or the Japanese. If there is a conflict, the South would encounter the most damage.

.
This is precisely why nobody, including US, dares to "touch NK a hair".

That's probably why, according to my "conspiracy theory", that the US asked Israel to use its German-made Delfin-class sub to sink that SK ship, to stir up troubles in Korean Peninsula.

Delfin-class sub could surely fire German torpedo that was found at scene.

In case everything goes ok, surely it would not be a nuke war, but a limited conflict. Then Pantagon's selling arms to SK, Japan, Taiwa could be justified. Even Okinawa base is justified. Further, it would make China the ultimate villian in world Zionist press.

In case everything goes wrong, "hey, it's not me" , the Uncle Sam would claim. :partay:

How would Israel's diesel subs sail from the mediterranean to the pacific without being detected? battery life is only good for a few hundred km, beyond that the sub has to surface.

^^ I dunno too much about subs, but here we go:

SSK Dolphin Class Attack Submarine, Israel

It's top of line desiel electric sub, extremely quiet.

About its torpedos: The submarine has ten bow torpedo tubes. Four of the tubes have a 650mm diameter that could provide the capability to launch swimmer delivery vehicles (SDVs). With liners the tubes could be used for torpedoes. Six tubes of 533mm diameter for launching DM2A3 torpedoes were supplied by Atlas Elektronik. The torpedo has a range up to 28km

Propulsion: The propulsion system provides a speed of 20kt dived and a snorting speed of 11kt. The range of the submarine is 8,000 miles at a surface speed of 8kt and over 400 miles at an economical speed of 8kt dived. The hull is rated for a diving depth of 350m. The endurance of the submarine is 30 days.

Edit: if that torpedo is indeed German-made, then the killer list would be very short -NATO allies. Israel's German-made Dolphin Class is in it IMO. Of course there are several remaining issues to be confirmed:

1. its torpedo tube has to be matched with said torpedo. I assumed so.

2. when it launched the attack, it had to be in relatively deeper waters than that at which the SK ship sank. I assume so.

3. regarding its range, no one actuallyconfirmed if it's been sighted or not in or near the Pacific or not. There're subs overall the place in the region of many nationalities, I can imagine. We just don't know whether it's there .

If they have real hard evidence that NK/China is behind the attack the media will not be this tame

the range is when its surfaced that is, breathing air for diesel power. submerged, its 400 miles = 700 km. so it had to be surfaced within at least the east sea. we already monitor US, japanese and south korean activity there. how would an israeli sub go there undetected?

Which website/s or newspaper/s or other media you know that publish info on how many subs and with which flags they have sighted in East China Sea on a daily basis?

How do you know for sure that the Sub, Israel German-made Dolphin Class, was not sighted/detected during hte period?

China may have detected, but it won't tell - classified.

The same with SK and Japan govts- classified.

Didn't you see that both SK and Japan's offical media have been dedicating in blinded cover-up in this event? They have failed to mention US vessel sunk at nearby water and all the related drama around it. Why?

It's the same pattern as a post 9-11 event, in which FBI were pursuing and arrested 5 highly suspicious "Arabs" terrorists immediately after the plane crashes. We all knew there were Arab terrorists as media mentioned. Only recently via credible British journalist sources we got confirmation that these 5 "Arabs" terrorists were Mossad operatives.

We just don't know whether or not Israel sub has been sighted/detected !

Even if we did know, since all the major world media are owned/edited by Jews, this kind of info/news would never surface to the public domain. That's why there are "consipacy theories".

History shows times and again, whenever there's an International "incident" where people died of suspiction of murder, then one just can not rule out hands of Israel, being Mossad or its army/navy. The same should be with this event. How's possible that one could 100% rule out Israel here? We just can't.

Why they said the torpedo was of German origin, why not Chinese origin? French? British, etc? there are far more third-party torpedos out there than German. It's because they must have some concete evidences!

As I said, German torpedos hasve a very short user list, and are probabaly far more difficult to accquire in world black market than Chinese silkworm rockets. There are only a handful of nations who can get their hands on german torpedos and have the means to launch them in that part of the world. Israel is one of them wihtout doubt! One just can't rule it out. In my book, Israel is guilty unless proven otherwise!

Now I just found this article while searching for German torpedo specs in the web, should be a good read:

Did U.S or Israel Sink S korean ship. New evidence.

WMR's intelligence sources in Asia suspect that the March attack on the South Korean Navy anti-submarine warfare (ASW) corvette, the Cheonan, was a false flag attack designed to appear as coming from North Korea.

One of the main purposes for increasing tensions on the Korean peninsula was to apply pressure on Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama to reverse course on moving the U.S. Marine Corps base off Okinawa. Hatoyama has admitted that the tensions over the sinking of the Cheonan played a large part in his decision to allow the U.S. Marines to remain on Okinawa. Hatoyama's decision has resulted in a split in the ruling center-left coalition government, a development welcome in Washington, with Mizuho Fukushima, the Social Democratic Party leader threatening to bolt the coalition over the Okinawa reversal.

The Cheonan was sunk near Baengnyeong Island, a westernmost spot that is far from the South Korean coast, but opposite the North Korean coast. The island is heavily militarized and within artillery fire range of North Korean coastal defenses, which lie across a narrow channel.

The Cheonan, an ASW corvette, was decked out with state-of-the-art sonar, plus it was operating in waters with extensive hydrophone sonar arrays and acoustic underwater sensors. There is no South Korean sonar or audio evidence of a torpedo, submarine or mini-sub in the area. Since there is next to no shipping in the channel, the sea was silent at the time of the sinking.

However, Baengnyeong Island hosts a joint US-South Korea military intelligence base and the US Navy SEALS operate out of the base. In addition, four U.S. Navy ships were in the area, part of the joint U.S-South Korean Exercise Foal Eagle, during the sinking of the Cheonan. An investigation of the suspect torpedo's metallic and chemical fingerprints show it to be of German manufacture. There are suspicions that the US Navy SEALS maintains a sampling of European torpedoes for sake of plausible deniability for false flag attacks. Also, Berlin does not sell torpedoes to North Korea, however, Germany does maintain a close joint submarine and submarine weapons development program with Israel.

The presence of the USNS Salvor, one of the participants in Foal Eagle, so close to Baengnyeong Island during the sinking of the South Korean corvette also raises questions.

The Salvor, a civilian Navy salvage ship, which participated in mine laying activities for the Thai Marines in the Gulf of Thailand in 2006, was present near the time of the blast with a complement of 12 deep sea divers.

Beijing, satisfied with North Korea's Kim Jong Il's claim of innocence after a hurried train trip from Pyongyang to Beijing, suspects the U.S. Navy's role in the Cheonan's sinking, with particular suspicion on the role of the Salvor. The suspicions are as follows:

1. The Salvor engaged in a seabed mine-installation operation, in other words, attaching horizontally fired anti-submarine mines on the sea floor in the channel.

2. The Salvor was doing routine inspection and maintenance on seabed mines, and put them into an electronic active mode (hair trigger release) as part of the inspection program.

3. A SEALS diver attached a magnetic mine to the Cheonan, as part of a covert program aimed at influencing public opinion in South Korea, Japan and China.

The Korean peninsula tensions have conveniently overshadowed all other agenda items on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's visits to Beijing and Seoul.
