Featured Power generation reaches record high of 23,116MW

No brother its the other way around. Capacity payments we need to pay whether we generate or not. More generation means less payment per unit of capacity payment. Furthermore the energy generated is also being consumed. There is no storage system in pak
Can't dams also be used to store excess energy if its not needed...
First I think the power grid needs to be modernized to be able to get real time data on power being entered into the grid...and power being used to determine if there is excess...
Then if there is excess power not being used...it can be used to pump water back up. Is this possible for Pakistani dams?

No not possible but there is no excess power at a given time. Power generation can be reduced by lowering the amount of water passing thorugh dam or reducing the electrocity generation of thermal power plant.

Our issue with electricity is more about ineffecient transmission and distrobution system then generation itself.

Actually Bro More Generation Will Mean Greater Per Unit Cost.E.g If We Use Produce 10000 MW And Use Only 5000 MW We Have To Pay For That Extra 5000 MW We Are Not Using.

But If We Use That Extra 5000 MW Then Per Unit Cost Goes Down Since The Users Of The Original 5000 MW Now No Longer Have To Pay For That Extra 5000 MW.

Build More SEZ Maybe Do What SHaukat Aziz Did and Re Liberalize Consumer Financing Also Get More EVs On The Road.Just Use That Power

First of all we are not storing energy so whatever we generating is being consumed. So your staetment that we generate 10000 mw and use 5000 mw is factually incorrect.

Secondly power purchase are driven by 2 components.

First is fixed capacity cost lets assume it is 2 million rupee per mw for a 100 mw plant. So even if plant is not producing anything we have to pay this 2 million. Now lets assume the plant only produce 1 unit of electricty and the agreed rate is 10 rupee per unit then ethe unit will cost us 2million and ten rupee whereas if we create 2 million unit then per unit cost will be rupees 11 only.

So more we produce cheaper it will get. Given that demand for electricity is higher than production to forseeable future

Dear I Think These Reports Would Explain The Point I Am Trying To Make

“rising capacity payment of all the power producers from FY18 onwards owing to sharp depreciation of the Pak rupee and an increase in the interest rates have been the major contributing factor to the consistently high end-user tariffs”

Some Power Stations Are Ready To Supply Power But The "Highly Competent" N League In It's Infinite Wisdom Forgot to Lay The Transmission Lines. But As Per Agreements They Signed We Have To Pay Them Whether We Use The Power Or Not.

Ultimately The Route To Salvation Lies In The Following

1.Deregulation and Unbundling The Market
2.Preference Of Local Resources Over Imported Fuel

Bro u r confusing two separate matters. Initially u were saying high generation means higher per unit cost.

Anyways it is no use of debating coz either i dont understand what r u saying or u dont know anything about eleçtricity pricing.

In amy case lets end this discussion

My Point Is That Guaranteed Capacity Payments To Investors Means That Much Of The Capacity Addition Done In The Past Few Years Is Highly Expensive.Agreements Made With IPPs Were Designed In Such A Way So As To Rip Us Off.

As Per These Agreements We Have To Pay For The Extra Power We Don't Use Which Makes Per Unit Cost Expensive.

Peace

Ok got ur point but the best way to counter it to achieve maximum productiom out of those plant so that capacity payment per unit gets reduced. This is how u can achieve maximum efficency.

Hence the above high production is a welcome good news

Brother Production Is There It Is The Utilization That Will Decrease Capacity Payments

Whats the point. Electricity is getting expensive daily. People will eventually move to solar

Things have definitely improved in Pak!!! My son’s on-line Kuran course teacher is from Pak. In the past, lots of disruptions used to occur. Now, no such thing....

.
Electricity generation correlates with GDP directly.
I agree with ur statement, Pakistan has a huge population, but a tiny gdp with tiny electricity generation capacity.... they should be 440GW not 23GW.
