Vividly remember the Bakrid when I was young - a student of my father's appeared in the doorsteps with a whole leg of a goat and I was pleasantly surprised, surprised and annoyed as well. Pleasantly surprised that I will get to eat lots of meat that day, surprised that someone would bring in raw meat -never really understood the religious part and annoyed that I had to wait for 2-3 hours before I can taste that juicy goat meat.

I made a curry today for myself in that Namak Mandi style....IT was pretty good but no matter how much one tries cannot make a curry like namak mandi...

Man those were the days, we use to drive all the way up to Hayat Abad for Afghani Tikka, on the way back stopping at namak mandi for Charsi's tikka.....picking up Amratsey from Qisa Khawani and last stop on the bridge that leads to Risalpur for the best Chappal kabab in town.
And the Pashawari Qawa......lakar hazam....pathar hazam.
