Post-Bali, China talks of love for India to keep US away

BEIJING: The winds of change blowing in from Bali seem to have suddenly altered China's approach toward India.

The Chinese foreign ministry on Monday waxed eloquent about China-India friendship using phrases it usually reserves for its close ally, Pakistan.
:woot:

"There is no power in the world that can prevent the development of bilateral relations between the two countries," said foreign ministry spokesman Liu Weimin :woot: :rofl:soon after the meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chinese premier Wen Jiabao on the sidelines of ASEAN talks in Bali last Friday.

China's obvious signal to New Delhi is to keep the United States out of the picture in the process of developing bilateral relationship and settling disputes that include Beijing's opposition to ONGC's investment in oil exploration in South China Sea. But the foreign ministry stuck to its earlier opposition to India's entry in the oil exploration field along with Vietnamese firms in the Sea area.

"As for the discussion on South China Sea issue, China has expounded its position many times. We don't hope to see outside forces involved in that dispute, and do not want to see foreign companies engage in activities that will undermine China's sovereignty, rights and interests," Liu said.

Replying to a question on whether China was isolated at the ASEAN meet during discussions on South China Sea, Liu said, "I do not agree with the term 'isolation' . In general, the meeting centered on the theme of cooperation, development and solidarity, and has yielded practical results."

Liu said India focused on the need to "uphold the larger interest of regional peace and stability, and do more things that will contribute to mutual trust and cooperation".

"China's position on this is clear and consistent," Liu said. "The dispute should be solved between countries directly concerned through friendly consultation and negotiation. Outside intervention or taking the issue to a multilateral forum will only complicate the issue," he said.

On business cooperation, Liu said, "The two sides enjoy great cooperation potential and we hope to continue to create favorable conditions for free flow of commodities, technology, finance and services, and encourage enterprises from both sides to invest and have contract cooperation to the benefit of both countries and peoples."

Liu quoted the Indian government as assuring China that the strategic cooperation partnership is beneficial to both countries and peoples.

Then why they are entering into Indian ocean. they are also got two blocks near Sri lanka. Why china having pathetic attitude towards small neighbors.

Which basically means, nothing has changed and everything from our points to opinions remains the same

Nothing can beat this ,so cheesy indeed
Modi, who is on his fourth visit here, struck an emotional chord while addressing a well-attended China-India business get-together. “China and its people have a special place in my heart. I admire their hard working, disciplined and resilient nature and above all, their sense of history. Our cultural bonds are very strong and deep-rooted. Over the years, our relations have further strengthened. We are committed to making them still better, fruitful and productive,”

this Modi guy talks about China like god, haha

china is running with the hare and hunting with the hounds. so every word should be analyzed very cautiously.

things will remain at is it at south china sea... this conflict will not resolve so easily.to maintain peace present scenario is best

After being suprised by US-India-VietNam-Japan friendship , China realise that she's so lonely unlike during 1979-1988 .

It's purely business, not friendship my friend. It's all about making use of eachother in hope that each would come out with at least a goal. The west will not be a friend of communist or muslim nations, the moment when your purpose expires will spell the end for you unless you are strong enough to stand up against them. Just look at the ME and what has become of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and how they are constantly giving unnecessary pressure to Pakistan and Turkey etc.

Hope India will support our space program to controll China satellites before shaking hand and colaborate with China ^^

Common now, be a bit more optimistic with your "friend". I admire your determination and will, but for Vietnam to have the ability to control China's satellites means they will have the ability to challenge the U.S. in space. I don't think there are any countries with abilities dominate Space quite like the U.S. Russia or China right now. Speaking of which China have only recently launched two more satellites into space

well friend we will always support you.., and now with the US with you, Vietnam can expect greater progress..We are also cooperating with Myanmar and Japan to have a trade block in the region

How many here understand the term " all hat no cattle" ?You find similar language used on the net ( articles from china)

China talks warmly about vietnam , but back stabs it
china talks warmly about south korea , but back stabs it
China talks warmly about japan, but back stabs it
China stalks warmly about philipinnes but back stabs it

Now this is reversely all hat and all strong cattle

"US simply shows India support and China changes to sweet talk.."

Now on a more " critical thinking note" - some myths about China that need to be hit on many posters head here

1. China will not go to war with India. the case is not even remotely close between countries to go to war. they will be small " incidents" tops.

2. China will not go to war, if India attacks pakistan. China is a very materlistic driven country. They don't want to stop, put a brake on being " NO 1 on GDP". China will support Pakistan with arms , yes- but it will never enter the war because they would rather show the world market - how stable they are internally. Only stupid , ignorant internet warriors think China will attack India if there is a Indo- Pak war. WHY would they not just sit by and get foreign investors to praise how their invetsments are safe in china vs look what is happening in India.

3. China will continue its bi- lateral trade with India inspite whatever India does to Pak. Money money money is their god.

Semi true. Points to be looked at would be the so called "Indo-Pak war". It is not 30 years ago anymore. India too is experiencing some of the best economic growths and is fast becoming a great regional power. It will not give up on that and of course it wants to keep up with China.

Well, all countries—even Myanmar—have grown tired of China’s unique diplomatic style and would like Beijing to adapt instead of consistently adapting themselves. China’s maximalist negotiating strategy boils down to this: “What is mine is mine, what is yours is also mine. Now let’s talk into the next millennium.”

Stop this game, Asia is saying with a little help from Washington.
