Possible Russian S-400 sale to India and Pakistan's Response.

Are you sure its not Reaper ? In last pages, you had claimed Burraq costs 1/6th of Reaper. A Reaper (in your words advanced Predator) costs 4-5 times of a Predator.

Anyway the question is, how much will a Predator cost in 2020. If in 2010, flyaway cost is $4mill, so acquisition cost of one system should be ~7-10 Mill. The figure should go to ~10-12 million in 2020 due to inflation. Your Burraq would cost $2-3 million. A supposedly cheaper Harpy will cost $1-2 million. 1000 of them will cost $1-2 billion. Take inflation into account and the figure goes to $2-3 billion. Add to this cost of training manpower and associated infrastructure. 1000s of such Harpys will bankrupt your country. ;)
And if all the assumption mention is true, they where able to get one S-400 system,so our job is done by trading one S-400 in return of there 2-3 billion dollars.

Trade with you is on the table

S400 is not a game changer and concept of no fly zone does not exist specially if its a proper military, there are dozens of cheap solutions already available

S-400 Effect : Will Pakistan purchase Chinese S-300 Copy ?

On the sidelines of BRICS summit in Goa, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has signed a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin to acquire an advanced air defence system from Moscow that is worth over $5bn. S-400 Triumph is a long-range air defence missile system that has the capability to destroy any incoming hostile aircraft or drone at ranges of up to 400km. S-400 is already dubbed by many Defence Analyst in the region has a ” Game Changer ” Air Defence systems for India . Hypothetically S-400 Radars which has a scan range of 600km can track each aircraft flying over Pakistani airspace with ease and with 400 km missile range , Pakistani Fighter jets can be destroyed right after takeoff from whichever base they operate from . On the other side of the border , Pakistani Military establishments already have red flagged this recent development and a high-level meeting between Pakistani and Chinese military officials held earlier this year have already discussed possibility of the sale of Long Range HQ-9 Air Defence systems to counter India’s recent purchase . HQ-9 Air Defence system is Chinese derivative of the Russian-made S-300 long-range SAM system which can engage aircraft, cruise missiles, and theatre ballistic missiles. Chinese variant of HQ-9 has a reported range of 200kms but their export variant FT-2000 is scaled down variant which has a reported range of only 125kms . In 2014 , Pakistan acquired HQ-16 surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems from China for $373 million .HQ-16 is a medium-range SAM system with a maximum intercept range of 40km which has scan radar range of 120kms. It is still not clear if China will supply HQ-9 with 200km range or scaled down export variant like it has done in past . Pakistan acquiring HQ-9 will allow them to target Indian fighter aircraft presumably from safer locations, unlike other Air Defence systems which need to be positioned near frontline to be effective due to their limited range. With India and Russia sealing the deal for S-400 Systems, it could be matter of few months before China and Pakistan to declare an agreement on the purchase of HQ-9 Air Defence systems . India, on the other hand, is also working on developing a longer ranged 150km Air Defence systems derivated from its Ballistic Missile Defence System and also has developed MR-SAM with Israel with reported range of 70-90kms , this explains a lot that expensive S-400 systems acquired by India might be limited to protect vital Cities,Government establishments and military installations .

Hmm..

It will interesting to see Pakistan operating (Chinese) S300s to counter the Indian missile inventory.
India is buying just 5 batteries.
Wonder how many batteries Pakistan can afford.

The HQ-9 can provide a cushion untill finally China develops its version of the S400s.

But a SAM is not countered by a SAM essentially.
To counter any SAM,Pakistan needs MIRVs or MRVs in a greater number.

Also, look towards SEAD ops against these S400s..but SEAD ops have a very thin success rate.

Future is interesting.

@long_ you guys got photocopy machines for missiles ?
What do you expect, this is an analysis by an Indian website. so they try to put down their enemies but that does not change the facts...The control systems on HQ-9 have more elements of Patriot missile than S-300 so that simply shows the ignorance of the author and reflects badly on him but being an Indian his aim to false feed the info.

from wiki page for S-400, India is buying at least 6000 missiles for the S-400 complexes.......not sure how Pakistan or even China can counter that.

and it's pretty telling how superior the S-400 is since China is buying it as well.

India is buying 5 regiments of S-400.

Each regiment has 2 battalions of S 400 launchers.

Each battalion has 8 to 12 launchers with 4 missiles each.

So a total of about 100 launchers worth $5.5 to $ 6 Billion.

In 2014 China signed agreement to supply 6 battalions or 3 regiments or about 50 launchers of S 400 for $3 Billion.
