I am sorry,I forgot to explain,this pic is psed by a net-friend,he guessed that this may be the J-10XX,no one know what is under R&D till equiped with a large number.but it's confirmed that J-10 is in continuous Improving,and at least two different 5th gen fights under R&D

I have never seen such variants of a plane ever made in history i.e. one with single and the other with two. Is there any such example existing?

I don't think one can call F-15 a variant of F-16. F-16's manufacturer is LM while F-15's manufacturer is Boeing IDS (McDonnell Douglas at that time).

On the other hand, I am not disagreeing with the possibility of a naval variant of J-10 with two engines, especially after seeing the pictures of the proposed designe.

f-15-16 are two very different aircrafts inside out. i mean since F-15 came first F-16 is not a variant of f-15.

two examples that are possibly closest are F-5 and F-20. they both look similar and both have different number of engines.

The F-20 Tiger Shark, didn't raise a single sale despite conducting over 1000 demonstration flights, America tried in vain for the PAF to accept the Northrop aircraft but PAF insisted on the F-16.

the point here was only that their have been aircraft which has been evolved into different number of engine.
someone raised a point that a chinese naval aircraft with 2 engine wont be called variant of J-10 because J-10 only has one engine.
