Pork gelatine in flu vaccine for children

Children in UK receive nasal spray flu vaccine each year to prevent seasonal flu(influenza) in them especially before they attend schools. Flu is very common in UK especially in winter and this vaccine not only protects children from flu, but also helps to reduce the spread of flu in family. I have discussed it with nurse and she confirmed that nasal spray flu vaccine contain porcine gelatine which comes from collagen in pigs. Its up to parent to take it or leave it but there is no other alternative available. I think no parent would like to see their little ones with running nose and cough every now and then especially those who have got weak immune system

What is the option for Muslim children?

I have heard about two opinions

1) First opinion suggest that Haram become halal when used to cure some illness or used as medicine

2) second opinion strictly forbid this because according to them its not matter of life and death

What you guys suggest ? any experience of those living in UK with family?

You can get a jab, my young niece is quite a sickly child and she had it. My elderly parents also get the jab, I believe your gp can arrange a jab instead.

If it is not available, I'd say it depends on your child. If your child is the type who regularly gets ill or catches flu, if the jab isn't available use the spray. It's fine if it's a necessity for your health.

I personally don't bother with a flu spray or jab for my kids as I find they tend not to get the flu.

Today we say Cancer or TB is major killer and people don't talk about flu but flu virus is still a big killer planet wide

The flu itself is one of the biggest killers on planet
Many elderly people die because they do not have immunity to flu which is why when elderly get effected by flu conventional medicine don't work after you get contaminated which is why often death happens due to Pneumonia etc

So if you view Flu as a deadly virus then of course prevention becomes primary objective you should not get it nor you should spread it to 100 people in your community

Many flu strains after you get infected , remain active for 5-7 days and during that time you are at mercy of your own immune system to let you survive , for elderly people their immune system is weak so it is a life or death situation for them. Children also have weak immune system



So ...when you know Flu can be deadly ..... why even let it grow in community or city ?

I went to surgery with children but cancel it after knowing that it contain porcine gelatine. Now I am confuse whether go for it or leave it and yes my children catch flu easily

To begin with the concentration levels would require chemical analysis to confirm the gelatin content. Because of the amounts and processing there is no way you could link this with pork either by visual or smell.

To make my point I will put forth some other example of pedantic foolishness. If you are adjacent to a person who has dunk alcohol. For instance a taxi driver taking his drunk fare home. Are you inhaling alcohol? If your in a vehicle you can certainly smell alcohol. If you can smell it that means there are alcohol molecules floating around in the cabin of the car in sufficent quantity that your nasal receptors pick them up. So the question here is am I inhaling alcohol? Furthermore is it halal for me to engage in transporting drunks?

Those who are in favour of vaccine have their own logic and reasoning while those who oppose it have their own opinions. When religion involve in something then it become controversial issue.. I have asked this question to make up my mind but your questions confusing me further

There are two contradictory opinions that's why I have asked this question....every human being interpret right or wrong as per his own interpretation of religion and thats where things become confuse

flu jabs are a load of s#it. flu virus changes every time and it's impossible to vaccinate. My dad gets the flu jab and he still ends up with a flu. As do many other other people.


As for Vitamin C. You body has an immune system. That immune system is fueled by Vitamin C. Strange thing is for many many years Vitamin C was recommended when people caught flu especially by pharmacist and not doctors.
