Pope Francis is set to arrive in Bangladesh for a three-day visit in the end of November this year at the invitation of prime minister Sheikh Hasina.



The visit, which has been in discussion for over a year, is likely to take place on 30 November to 2 December, reports news agency UNB.



Last year, Francis announced that he would 'almost certainly' visit India and Bangladesh in 2017.



This will be the first visit by any pope to Bangladesh in last 31 years. In 1986, pope John Paul II visited Bangladesh.

I think Bangladesh is not that risky nation to visit. Moreover, appropriate security measures would be taken during his visit.

It will be a very good publicity for Bangladesh.Pope is the biggest celebrity in the world.His visit in any country generate more enthusiasm around the world than say US president vising that country.

i would rather see a pope visit then a USA president
the government should make special arrangement for the all Christian to make them able to visit meet him when he is there
its big deal Bangladesh is the 3rd largest Muslim country and we have a tiny Christian community
and i forgot one of our Father/Priest was chosen to me one of the board member to choose next pope forgot the position though

Pope is head of catholic community and not followed by all Christian community. As a matter of fact, Catholics are not even consider as Christian.

Catholics see same as Mazar poojari in sub-continent.

Pope John Paul II had a huge fan following(among Muslims) in Bangladesh...he visited BD...Francis has a good following too(although nowhere as close as John Paul II)...he's just visiting his fans.

What recent spike? Gulshan stack happened over a year ago. After that those scums have either been hunted down or killed. So no safety issues as of now. Not to mention pope will be provided with security
