Poland has signed for four more Alenia M-346 Master advanced jet trainers and is upgrading the 12 already received.

The procurement and upgrade contract, announced by the manufacturer on 14 December, is valued at EUR130 million (USD147 million) and is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2022.

As noted by Leonardo, as well as an expansion of the Polish Air Force’s M-346 fleet, this deal will see its already-delivered aircraft upgraded to the latest NATO STANAG 4193 Edition 3 identification friend or foe (IFF) standard.

Having placed its original order of eight M-346s in 2014, Poland received its first aircraft in November 2016.
