PNS Mehran attack: 3 Naval Officers to be court-martial

this is a good happening!
the criminals must be brought to justice. what is even more better is that the trial has been made public and it is stated that detailed report will also be released soon to the civil court.

the attack on PNS Mehran was no doubt a sad sad incident and a very embarrassing one!
they let us down, badly!
no if some action is taken to coup with that incident and the proceedings are made public, it will somewhat restore the lost pride and confidence!

These three were master mind of that attack and should be get death penalty. All logistic and technical support has been provided to terrorist in this case. Detail of inquiry would never be exposed because more than 70% would go under court marshal on Mehran base.Detail would also lead for court marshal/ expel of Naval chief numan bashir. Plan was to destroy whole base and killed the Chinese engineers, but Shaheed Lt. Yaser Abbass and his some companions had ruin the terrorist plan. Like Shaheed Lt. Yaser Abbass other martyrs are also non-combating staff (Aeronautical engineer, driver,cook and fire man)

Why just the Navy .... A Naval Admiral has been court marshaled in the Past.
Why isn't the brass in the other forces brought to court ?

do you know that very next morning there was change of command ceremony going to happen?
in this particular case the Commodore of pns Mehran was very un-lucky person.
his posting to other unit was pending from 3-4 months because the next CO was busy in exercises.and in the morning ceremony will gona happen but in night this sad incident happened.

Indeed bring the perpetrators to justice, but these 3 officers are not accused of planning the attack but actually negligence and shabby security which resulted in the attack and the escape of the terrorists.

It is irrelevant that one of them was going to hand over the command to someone else and would have been immune to any scrutiny. It was under his command that the loopholes were identified by the terrorists but him, leading to a humiliating episode that saw the military might helpless against a bunch of terrorists.

The inquiry should also include people who were posted out or retired shortly before the attack (shortly can be a week a month or a year) because the attack was not planned on impulse but was after meticulous working and planning.

So the commandant, his staff. The duty officers, the head of security, the base in intelligence etc all share the blame.

Personally, I would have preferred the on-the-table voluntary resignation of the Naval Chief Admiral Nauman Bashir himself (he looked pretty stupid uttering the words' there was no security breach' on national news the very next day of the attacks or arriving in bullet-proof BMW's to the Mehran Base). Still holding the former Mehran Base Commander accountable is the step in the right direction.

How about those officers who were detained just within few days of attack, just because of negligence or they were compromised/complicit?

The report by Saleem Shezad indicated that AQ cells in the Navy had been broken and the people involved arrested. IF SS's accounts are true, there were other high level AQ sympathisers in the Navy/intel, who kept tipping off AQ about the location of the arrested individuals. Obviously these sympathizers are not strutting around openly, and it will take intelligence and investigative work to unearth their identities. How long that takes is anyone'e guess.

This particular court martial deals with the failures in security and perhaps response at the base.

I have quoted IB just to bring things in perspective.

No accusation by establishment/GoP on India and this trail has discouraged those who were trying to blame it on India.

Now there is a match between what was feared before just after the attack by many like me and the outcome of this trail.

S. Saleem was able to disclose critical information on a busted network where army took a decisive action against those who were complicit to radicals. It was second time when such network was exposed but unfortunately it was too late; after when they were able inflict harm at Mehran base.

The action was due, diplomatic statements are justifiable.

do you know that base commander has appointed a leader of rapid response force to non-combating aeronautical engineer,who has no commando training. Do you know that Lt. Yaser Abbas shaheed had off on that day but he was called at 8.00 pm to join duty.
Do you know that more than 18 fully weaponed security person had refused to fight with terrorist. Do you know that Lt. Yaser Shaheed had only a pistol and he got a machine gun from security person to fight.
Do you know that AQ had forcing to release respectfully the Naval staff involved with AQ, this is before Mehran base attack. AQ was attacking and threatening on Navy for release of Naval staff .Saleem Shezad had also exposed this story in media before Mehran base attack.
