Prime Minister‚ Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has reiterated his government's full support to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government for attaining fast track development for the progress and prosperity of its people.


Addressing the budget session of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday‚ he underlined the need of ensuring transparency and accountability in the execution of developmental projects in Azad Kashmir.

Prime Minister asked the AJK Prime Minister to identify hydro power generation projects‚ enhance tax net and encourage good government.

Regarding Kashmir issue‚ the Prime Minister said the issue should he resolved in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiris and UN resolutions.

Nawaz Sharif said that he had raised the Kashmir issue at all forums and also during the recent meeting with President Obama.

The Prime Minister said that Muzaffarabad would be linked through modern railway system with Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

He said Muzaffarabad would also be connected with Mirpur‚ Northern Areas and all the major cities with modern road network to open economic corridor and boost the tourism activities in the area.

The Prime Minister suggested that expansion of tourism potential would increase government revenue.

The Prime Minister said peace cannot be established in the region without the settlement of Kashmir issue.

Prime Minister expressed his determination to resolve the Kashmir issue as it is his national obligation.

He said the solution of Kashmir problem guarantees the peace and prosperity in the region.

He said Muzaffarabad will be linked with Northern Areas through highways.

Earlier‚ Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was received by the Azad Kashmir President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan‚ Prime Minister Choudhary Abdul Majeed‚ other leaders and high ranking officials on his arrival in Muzaffarabad.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by Minister for Kashmir Affairs Chaudhry Barjis Tahir.

Radio Pakistan Muzaffarabad correspondent Rafique Bhatti says that the Prime Minister during his day-long visit to Muzaffarabad will also hold meetings with the APHC delegation‚ heads of political parties and leaders of PML-N Azad Kashmir.

A delegation of All Parties Hurriyet Conference also called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion‚ the Prime Minister said Kashmir issue should be resolved according to wishes of the Kashmiris.

He lauded the sacrifices of Kashmiris for attaining the inalienable right of self-determination.

Nawaz Sharif said‚ he had raised the issue during his speech at the UN General Assembly and his stance was hailed throughout the world and by Kashmiris.

He asked the delegation to present their suggestions for early resolution of the Kashmiri issue.

A delegation of AJK Pakistan Muslim League (N) led by Farooq Haider also called on Prime Minister and discussed matters relating to party affairs.
