PM Nawaz vows to transform Karachi into ‘crime-free city’

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that Karachi would be made a ‘crime-free city’ and the targeted operation against criminals and terrorists would continue to achieve the objective.

“We are going ahead without being deterred by the incidents happening there. The crime rate of extortion and kidnapping is falling down in the city,” the prime minister said addressing the launching ceremony of the National Aviation Policy 2015 here.

The aviation policy has been launched after 15 years introducing various reformative measures to uplift the country´s aviation sector that had been witnessing negative growth of 0.01 per cent against India at 1.5 pc, Thailand 9.0 pc, Malaysia 3.6 pc and Philippines 2.4 pc.

Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant on Aviation Shujaat Azeem also addressed the ceremony.

The prime minister said that the operation was launched with the consent of all political parties and required resources would be provided to the law enforcement agencies to achieve the desired results.

He said that the government was attending the issue of Karachi regularly and he would again visit the city within few days to personally monitor the operation there.

Sharif said that the attraction of Karachi city would be revived for the investors, foreigners as well as the common man.

He said that the Operation Zarb-e-Azb was ongoing successfully, though such action should have been launched about a decade ago. But, the prime minister added that his government had accepted the challenge and the security forces had dismantled the terrorists´ networks and hideouts.

The premier said that the blow-back of the military operation was also negligible and far lesser what he had thought. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was carrying out expeditious uplift work in the communication sector.

He said that the aviation sector could not get the required attention but the incumbent government never neglected this one of the most important sectors.

PM Nawaz said that the aviation growth in South Asia had been witnessed at around 8.4 per cent but it stood at 0.01 per cent in Pakistan, “that is in no way suitable for the country, therefore it is inevitable to formulate such a policy”.

The prime minister quoted Shujaat Azeem, saying that the aviation policy was one of the most modern and finest policies that had been formulated after consultation with all stakeholders.

Yeah so political parties won't even have to run their militant arms, they'll simply use state funded law enforcement. They are already using them, but now they could do all their business through them, without hiring a private army of thugs...They'll just get them all bharti in law enforcement....

Those so called Bharti would be much better then Corrupt people coming from Interior Sindh and Punjab by paying Heavy Bribes for their Transfer to Metropolis and can also manage to Enhance local Intelligence network along with Infrastructure due to having Educated Population in huge number.

Karachi is not inhabited by so called Bhartis only there are people from all provinces even those who exist no other City in Pakistan but in Karachi like Sindhi Speaking Kuchis and Makranis. All can be accommodated and no one is demanding Political basis of Recruitment process like in Quota system these days instead its all about local setup run by Locals and Monitored by Center.

GROW UP and stop looking things on Political Mentality and start looking things on the basis of Needs and Solutions rather.

MQM has always been target since their Muhajir days believe it or not and no one wants to repeat that days and as for MQM taking laws in there own hands then when the LEA are corrupt and incompetent in doing there jobs that is the Natural thing to happen that people would take matters in there own hands and MQM did that for their SURVIVAL because their Opponents were equipped to the teeth and even had Capability to fight a war in fact got LEA protection as well(then Interior minister Zulfiqar Mirza proudly distributed Licenses to Anti MQM criminals) despite being many times Ruthless then MQM can ever imagine to be. Consider that fact as well here instead of being one sided about the whole problem.

They do have a right to protect themselves as well and when LEA is hopeless rather there seen as there enemy then expecting them to manage arms and criminal elements is nothing but a natural choice to make for anyone in there position.
