What's new

PM Nawaz signs off on Diamer-Bhasha dam financing plan

Government hasn't bought all the land yet, we have land in Goner Farm, Chilas, and we are sitting ducks for years now. I can't say how long it might take before this project is completed.

For those who haven't seen the site it's massive, i think ones the dam is completed Chilas will be under water, as per some. Not sure about Chilas but Goner Farm will obviously be under water.

@unleashed ,@shimshali , what information do you guys have?
i saw a chinese documentary an how they had to submerge 2 or 3 developed small cities into water for them to make a dam big enough to power shanghai.

huge sky highs were flooded, so a few small villages shouldn't be a problem really. the long term benefits on this dam will be appreciated by the next generation

Which is not true... as yet

I can just wish for that
Its not possible for go for such a huge project without Chinese Assistance. Pakistanis lack expertise, will and funding..

Thank God. Progress on Basha. What is the status of Banji and other mega projects. We need them to control our waters.

To finance this project on its own Pakistan will have to make some sacrifices in short term. But benefits are greater in the long run if Pakistan completely own this project from day 1. This project if started next year will be build by 2027. Pakistan now can afford $1.5 billion per year now that development budget is much higher unlike 10 years ago.
