What's new

PM Nawaz has announced 32 billion package for Karachi

pm nawaz isn't playing around, i think this guy might actually make a difference this time around…. @Shabaz Sharif tell our brother i said good job lol.

It's Ganja's own damn companies (or Kick-backs from foreign firms) which come as foreign companies, with exaggerated price tags for their services and then they send all the money out of Pakistan again because they are foreign; it's better than money laundering.

It was told in a TV program that the buses used in metro project are Turkish and Shahbaz Sharif has shares in the company that makes these buses.

Now we are getting even the garbage clearing services from developed countries; who cares when all the money is going to Nawaz Sharif's coffers.

mughe to lagta he ke kuch andar se deal wagera hue he because nooras are not so bright to release funds for Karachi, maybe PPO has been agreed by MQM with few amendments, or MQM has agreed to join the federal govt, something has been done behind the curtain

nooras have also agreed to fund various other sindh projects and thats why PPP has passed the bill in the senate

kuch lo aur kuch do ki bunyad peh hua he yeh saara kaam

yahan funds ki bunyad peh every govt misuses its power to blackmail the political parties, PPP used the fund black mail MQM to join the sindh govt etc

if nooras were bright why would they release funds after one and a half year? esp when nooras promised to allocate budget for karachi in federal, they didn't allocate any in the budget as well

i can't believe that this innocent thread is too littered with paindu shit reporting is useless since mods are as useless in this forum as shit is useless

instead of discussing the projects the keyword is punjab, nawaz, shahbaz etc, politics and ethnicity

abe kya karachi ko bheeg me 32 billion punjab de raha he kya?

40 billion kahli federal rawalpindi ke metro bus me laga rahi he, ager 32 billion federal de rahi he karachi ke lye after 5 years tarsa tarsa ker for basic needs like water supply etc, ab kya karachi waali punjabion ko din raat ehsaan manae lag jayen kya ab?

din raat 10s of thousands flok from punjab and thats why karachi needs have multiplied, ab karachi waale punjab se bheeg mange ke khuda ke waaste ehsan kerdo, hum karachi waale 70% revenue generate kerdete hain, us me 2 kori karachi me bhi lagado?

Actually it's no longer the 90s anymore. Punjabis don't go to Karachi anymore. In fact, tides have reversed, and hundreds of Karachiite families are relocating to Lahore or Rawalpindi/Islamabad. I believe they should be answered in the same way as Punjabis were treated in Karachi during late 80s and 90s. Blood for blood, eye for eye.

30 billion. But lahore metro train cost is 160 billion.

I believe Lahore metro train is a useless project as of yet. The same money should be spent on Faisalabad to relieve population pressure from Lahore and Pindi.

Faisalabad is much bigger city than Rawalpindi. Population wise it is the 3rd largest city of pakistan after karachi and lahore .

Rawalpindi and Islamabad are practically 1 city today and are bigger in combination to Faisalabad. Faisalabad needs higher development projects in my opinion. Also, Rawalpindi/Islamabad suffers from high migration rate, particularly from tribal areas, KPK and Karachi. A 10 million population Islamabad/Rawalpindi would be genocidal to the ~10 million Potoharis in total. Excuse my "racism" and a lack of political correctness, but in a volatile federation like Pakistan, I would rather not become a minority in my ethnic homeland.

Stopping IDPs at Attock was a blessing in disguise for us. Again, I apologize if I hurt anyone's sentiments here but I have my reasons.

I fully understand you concerns, the problem is that the sons of the soil have no say to decide the fate of this country. Ayub khan did not ask anybody when he shifted capital from karachi to islamabad. It was clear right from that time that one day population load from other areas will be shifted to islamabad and hence affect the pothoharis living in its surrounding. Now they cannot stop people migrating to islamabad en mass.

We can have this discussion in another thread if you like brother, as it is off topic. A lot of people here would label me "racist" and "are we all not Pakistanis?" comments haha.

lol!
So now they are going to call themselves mohajirs x2?

In Australia, first generation brits call themselves "Australian", yet these people are 4th or 5th generation, and yet they still call themselves "muhajir" lol.

It will not make much difference, cities are already multi-ethnic. Islamabad have its own budget because its federal city. Islamabad is not even considered part of Punjab, though i always though Islamabad as punjabi city. Punjabis make majority in Islamabad maybe thats why.

Anyway i personally have no problem people migrating anywhere in Pakistan, as long as infamous bastis are not created or katchi abadis. Rawalpindi most not become Karachi part 2. Islamabad is different story, lot more expensive and have its own laws. I doubt Islamabad will be ruined. And FATA need to be integrated, did you know Christians in FATA who are there for generations can't buy land? Yet FATA people move freerly everywhere in Pakistan. Seriously some steps need to be taken.

Punjabis have been target of MQM in Karachi/Sindh and BLA in Balochistan for being ethnic punjabis. Yet i never heard of anything like that in Punjab.

Announcements been done 1000 times , but what is on the grounds?
Ohh i guss, MQM just wantes score a progress point, here?

finally Karachiites get some good news

KARACHI:
There were a lot of things Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had to do in his one-day visit to Karachi. He had several meetings lined up, one of which was at Governor House with a special announcement for the residents of Karachi.

On Thursday, the prime minister announced that they would launch the Metro Bus Project in the city and will have Rs15 billion set aside for it. “We have decided to take over the green line project in the city,” he said. “The metro bus service will start on the same pattern as Lahore.”

The green, yellow and red line projects are part of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridors that have already been announced by the Sindh government. In the current financial budget, the provincial government has also allocated Rs3 billion for the green line corridor that is supposed to start from Surjani Town and go all the way to Merewether Tower.

The prime minister (PM), however, categorically explained that the green line project will be completed with funding as a federal project. He said that he wanted to hurry up and finish work on this 25-kilometre corridor which would ease the traffic congestion in the city.

Officials who were briefing the PM on the BRT corridors said that this was being proposed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the provincial government would work with the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on it together.

At this point of the meeting, the PM turned to Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and asked if he would object to the federal government taking over this project. Shah said that he would have no objection and added that the Sindh government was already pursuing the Centre to invest in Karachi.

While addressing those present at the meeting, Sharif said that Karachi was the economic hub of Pakistan and that is why the federal government wanted to focus on its mega schemes. “We will start work on the Lahore-Karachi motorway soon. A total of Rs55 billion have been released to National Highway Authority for this projcct,” he said assuring the chief minister and governor that development funds for the K-IV, SIII and other mega schemes would not be curtailed.

During the meeting the issue of Karachi Circular Railway and Lyari Expressway was also taken up. The federal minister for railways, Khwaja Saad Rafique, and Chief Secretary Sajjad Saleem Hotiana briefed the PM about the railway and expressway projects. The chief secretary informed the premier that they were trying to relocate the people living on part of the expressway that was incomplete. Once, he said, the people were relocated they could start working on it again.

The PM was accompanied by the federal interior minister, Chaudhry Nisar on this trip. They assured Shah and Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad of the federal government’s financial assistance to resolve these issues without any delay.

Nawaz Sharif also held three other meetings, including one on the law and order situation with political parties, members of the business community and law enforcement officers.

The business community asked the PM to hand Karachi over to the armed forces for just six months given the increasing extortion and kidnapping cases. The chief minister defended his government’s efforts and said that a couple of days ago the business community had held a meeting with him and appreciated the Sindh government’s efforts. Source told The Express Tribune that the business community led by Siraj Qasim Teli presented facts and figures on how the industrialists were shifting their industries from Karachi and demanded that if the army can be called into Multan, Islamabad and other cities why can’t it be deployed to Karachi till things got better.
