This 3000 number is unverified and unverifiable.

The official number of Muslims killed was 790.

254 Hindus were also killed. Including the 58 karsevaks who were burned alive. The event that sparked the mob fury.

In pogroms, only one side gets killed.

There were (and remain) 223 missing and 2500 were injured.

No Indian has any doubt in his or her mind which side started it.

And Modi for all his faults and unfulfilled promises, was cleared by the courts after a decade long trial by fire with the most intense and sustained scrutiny of any case in recorded history, in the cross hairs if a party in power that had the entire state machinery at their disposal and still failed to pin anything in him.

It is the reason why most of us voted for him. Including me.

We should consider inviting Mr Moon as the Chief Guest of Honour to this Republic day. Our ties with South Korea remain very limited in terms of defence. Need to change that.
